Meet Annmarie Tereza | Voiceover Artist: The Voice That Resonates

We had the good fortune of connecting with Annmarie Tereza and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Annmarie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
For as long as I can remember, I have dreamed of starting my own business as a voiceover artist. After dedicating 18 years of my life to being a nurse, I found profound joy in helping others during their most vulnerable moments. I cherished being the reliable person that people could turn to in their time of need. Yet, despite the satisfaction my nursing career brought me, I always sensed that a vibrant creative outlet was missing from my life.
Voiceover work captivates me because it is so much more than merely reading lines or voicing quirky characters. It’s an expressive art form that transcends age barriers, reaching hearts and minds of both the young and the old. Whether it’s the enchanting world of animated characters imparting valuable lessons, offering a burst of comic relief, or narrating an audiobook that whisks listeners away on a thrilling adventure, voiceover creates profound connections.
Through this exciting venture, I believe I can share a deeper part of myself—one that fuses my passion for storytelling with my desire to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others—surpassing even what I offered in my previous profession.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a Croatian-American voice actor who brings a diverse range of projects to life, including animation, commercials, narration, e-learning, and audiobooks. My mission is to deliver captivating performances that transform characters into relatable and dynamic personalities.
My journey began with a chance encounter on a plane between my mother and the talented voice actor Mimi Maynard, who later opened a voice acting school called Voice Masters. After my mother highlighted my talent for impersonating family members with Croatian accents, I decided to enroll in an animation class, unaware that Mimi didn’t know who I was when I joined her lesson.
I kept my story private while immersing myself in voice acting, seeking feedback from mentors and peers. Chris Gannon, a respected voice actor, recognized my potential and encouraged me with the words, “Kid, you have the chops for this,” which significantly boosted my confidence.
Once I completed the classes, I shared my unconventional journey with my classmates, which deepened our community bond. Voice acting has become my true calling, bringing me joy and purpose every time I step behind the microphone.
Starting a new career in voiceover work after years in nursing has been challenging, but my passion continues to motivate me. I believe that no matter where you are in life, you can always start over and pursue your dreams; consistency and determination are key to achieving your goals.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Los Angeles is a vibrant and enchanting city, offering a myriad of experiences waiting to be explored. I often find myself inspired to start a blog dedicated entirely to the amazing places one can discover here.
One of my favorite ways to begin the day is by hiking the picturesque trails that wind through the hills of LA. Griffith Park stands out as a gem in the city, particularly the Mt. Hollywood trail. As we ascend, we’re treated to breathtaking views of the iconic Hollywood sign, and our journey culminates at the stunning Griffith Observatory, where the panoramic vistas of the city below are simply unforgettable. Additionally, Topanga Canyon offers a serene escape, with its lush landscapes and scenic paths that invite exploration.
Breakfast in Los Angeles is a delightful experience, with numerous charming eateries to choose from. I love starting my day at Republíque Café Bakery, where the aroma of freshly baked pastries lingers in the air, or at Alcove, where outdoor seating allows for a delightful morning ambiance. Nick’s Café and The Original Pantry Café both offer hearty, comforting meals, while any spot with delectable smoothies and aromatic teas is sure to please.
As the sun rises higher, day activities beckon us to the stunning beach communities that dot the coastline. Each destination, from the bustling Santa Monica Pier, with its lively boardwalk and vibrant street performers, to the eclectic charm of Venice Beach, offers its own unique character. Long Beach, Malibu, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, and Hermosa Beach each provide distinct vibes, inviting visitors to soak in the sun, sand, and surf.
When lunchtime arrives, I enjoy indulging at various quaint cafes. Aroma Café on Wilshire tempts with its delicious ćevapi, while Café Tropical provides a taste of Cuba. Urth Caffe, with its focus on organic, high-quality ingredients, and Aroma Coffee and Tea in Studio City are always great choices. The vendors at Grand Central Market offer a bustling atmosphere, serving a range of culinary delights that make every visit an adventure.
As the day transitions to evening, the city comes alive with possibilities. Hollywood is rich with attractions that captivate the senses, from the star-studded Walk of Fame to the historic TCL Chinese Theatre. The Dolby Theatre, with its grand decor, hosts various performances, while the Hollywood Bowl offers magical summer concerts under the stars. A visit to Universal Studios promises thrilling rides and an exciting glimpse into the world of film.
Dinner in LA is often a culinary journey in itself. I relish dining at Bottega Louie, where the bustling atmosphere and exquisite pastries draw me in, or SUR Restaurant and Lounge, known for its chic ambiance and creative dishes. Exploring the restaurants along 2nd Street in Long Beach reveals favorites like Saint & Second, Nick’s on 2nd, Nico’s Restaurant, Michael’s on Naples, Open Sesame Grill, and Kihon Sushi, each offering a unique dining experience that leaves a lasting impression.
Though a week in Los Angeles would barely scratch the surface of its wonders, I am confident that I could create an unforgettable experience for my friend in the little time we have together, filled with adventure, exploration, and delicious memories.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to recognize my beautiful mother, Dr. Mary Mišerda, who has been my unwavering rock amid life’s many trials and tribulations. Her strength and support have guided me through challenging times and celebrated my victories.
I also wish to recognize and express my heartfelt gratitude to my exceptional voiceover mentors and cherished friends, whose encouragement and wisdom have illuminated my path over the years. Your belief in my potential inspired me to reach new heights. I am especially thankful to Mimi Maynard, Paulette Lifton, Vanessa Garcia, and Casandra Groves—your guidance has been invaluable, and I couldn’t have embarked on this journey without you.
