Meet Antoine Paikert | Artist & Creative

We had the good fortune of connecting with Antoine Paikert and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Antoine, how do you think about risk?
It has changed the perspectives and opportunities that came to me. Starting my own business was a risk, especially with a very limited education in that specific industry. But I took the risk, placed a bet on myself that I could make it with hard work and passion.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I consider myself as a mixed media artists, meaning that I love to work with all sorts of formats to create my pieces. From video to photography, illustration and collage, I tried to look for material everywhere.

It took a few years to get where I am today and it took a lot of learning, trust in myself and efforts. From the beginning , my craft was my passion. So I kept working, posting, learning, even when it didn’t pay the bills. The bottom line is that I just kept working, until one day it started paying off.

I have learnt that not everyone that works hard will know success, that timing and place play a major role. I think luck played a big role in my success because I did something, at the right place and the right time,

Esquive Studio is a space for visual and word experiments. Every piece has a lot of me in them. Everything is based on an experience, a feeling, a discussion. It is my way to cope with things and the world. I want to put art out there in the world. If you are here with me, following me, I am happy to hear that my work connects with you.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In Helsinki, here are the places I would take them:

– Breakfasts in Moko Punavuori, Green Hippo (and homemade obviously)
– Visits of Suomenlinna, walking all around the city
– Dinners in Omadi, Yeastie Boi, Grohn, Bonafide, Tanner
– Lunch at Way Bakery, or on the go by the water as Helsinki is a coastal city
– Nights out in the compleksi area where bara and clubs like Post Bar, Siltanen, Tanner are!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family has supported me to chase my dreams from the beginning and have been my biggest fans since I started. Then my partner, who has been helping me through it all, who is an endless source of inspiration.
Finally, my best friend, who has been advising, supporting and motivating me throughout the years.
