We had the good fortune of connecting with Antoinette Golden and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Antoinette, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was that I wanted to be able to work for myself. I thought about having my own business when I went to college and studied Culinary Arts. Of course your going to have to work in the beginning to be able to start your own business, but I knew it wouldn’t be for long. Starting your own business, your going to have a lot of ups & downs due to it not being easy… but you can’t GIVE UP! I know for me that’s my motto because I know that this is something that I love to do.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career is in Culinary Arts. I am currently a employee at Fox Studios in which I cook for Bright Horizons Family Solutions. Honestly, I got to where I am today by the grace of God. It’s been plenty of times when I wanted to give up & not do anything. It’s been times when I didn’t have any catering events at all & it sent me to a depression because I didn’t know what was going on or was it me. I had all kinds of negative thoughts in my head. But one thing that kept me going was my team that was behind me. They spoke things into my life & assured me that everything was going to get better for me. What I want people around the world to know about me & my business is that I am very passionate about what I do. I’ve been through some things in my life, but one thing that I don’t do is let my past determine my future. The things that happened in my past drove me to become the person that I am today. Like I always say don’t give up & keep focused. It’s going to be a lot around you that causes you to lose focus but don’t let it. You are your own person
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly I’m not really the going out kind of person but for one I would take them to Roscoes Chicken & Waffles that’s a all time favorite. Next, probably to the Hollywood sign since everyone loves to see it. I would probably take them to a day party if anyone is having one. I would go to Downtown LA where LA Live is, the alley so they could go shopping and they can see how downtown looks. We would hit up downtown Disney in Anaheim go to a few bar spots out that way and just vibe out. Lastly we will find a roof top event & go. Everyone likes rooftop vibes so that will definitely be a vibe.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a Shout-out to God first because without him nothing is possible. The next person I would like to shoutout is all of my supporters who support me & hire me for all of their catering needs. Thank you guys so very much & know that none of this goes unnoticed. I have to give a huge shoutout to my Boyfriend…he is definitely my sous-chef. Whatever I need him to do he does it for me without any hesitation, and I am so very thankful & appreciative of him. Last but not least, I have to shoutout my twin sister. When I tell you every event that I have she comes & work for me at the drop of a hat. I taught her how to handle things & prepare food and she’s been doing just that. Thank you so much to everyone who has helped me along the way & whose still helping me as we grow.
