We had the good fortune of connecting with Antrom Kury and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Antrom, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Being raised by two artistic and entrepreneurial parents profoundly influenced my journey towards a career in music and art. Despite the inevitable trials and uncertainties inherent in forging one’s own path,  I’ve discovered that the rewards of pursuing creativity and heeding one’s intuition far surpass the challenges. This pursuit offers a rare freedom, difficult to attain within the confines of conventional employment. When I was in middle school I became very drawn to guitar and music in general as so many do, and from there I knew I was going to keep working at it until I could make it a reality for myself.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Joshua Tree, California. My musical journey kicked off at 13 with the guitar, leading to the formation of several bands and extensive touring across the US in my twenties. It’s been a varied career path, but it’s only in recent years that I’ve truly found joy in my creative process and a stable footing in the music industry. It’s taken time and growth to realize that trusting my instincts simplifies things immensely.

While I still enjoy collaborating with other musicians and artists—like an EP set for release this spring—I’ve found great satisfaction in working solo on commercial projects. Music, unlike many other art forms, relies heavily on collaboration, which brings both benefits and challenges. But having full creative control allows me to steer my artistic vision with clarity, bringing in additional talent as needed.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We love having friends come out to the high desert! It has such a special energy and it really is the perfect place to slow down and take a deep breath. We’re lucky enough to live next to an incredible part of Joshua Tree National Park so we would definitely spend one day hiking up through the boulders and exploring what the park has to offer. My favorite watering hole and coffee spot, Mas 0 Menos would be the next stop. Such a great vibe and great folks there! An evening in Pioneertown at Red Dog Saloon would be next- amazing tacos and margaritas and some great shops near by as well. Would also definitely have to stop by our dear friend’s shop, Sun of the Desert for some desert souvenirs!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to dedicate this to my wife and partner in all things, Aleksandra Zee, and my family. Without their unwavering love and support I would not be the person I am today!
