We had the good fortune of connecting with Ardelle Aquino and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ardelle, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
If you don’t LOVE going to work, find something else to do!

I became an RN right at the beginning of the pandemic. The Covid unit I worked on was severely understaffed, and sadly A LOT of my patients did not make it. As a nurse working during the pandemic, we definitely saw more death than the average nurse ever saw in a lifetime. I would cry before and after all of my shifts. I HATED going to work. I knew that I couldn’t live like this so that’s when I decided to search for another field of nursing. I applied to my first med spa and got the job! As I worked longer in the aesthetic field I fell in love with it! It didn’t take me long to quit my bedside position and go full time in aesthetics. Now I’ve been practicing for over 3 years and could not be more in love with my career. Everyday I wake up knowing that I love my job!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Getting into the aesthetic field as an RN was extremely difficult. I think I went on about 10-15 interviews and got rejected from all of them before I was able to land a job. While I was working, I would attend aesthetic conferences, trainings, and seminars. I wouldn’t miss a single one because I wanted to advance in this field. As I got more experience, I marketed myself to anyone I knew. I worked hard to build relationships with my patients. After about a year, I was able to have a steady flow of my own patients. I’ve learned that what you put in is what you get! The harder I worked to put myself out there as an injector, the more patients came and trusted me. Honesty is also the biggest thing! A lot of people come into a med spa with expectations and as the provider, you have to be honest and true with your patients. I think what sets me apart as an injector is that I don’t usually recommend injectable off the bat. LOL I am a HUGE proponent of skincare and skin health! I truly believe that getting the skin back to being healthy and youthful comes before any injections!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The area im from has the “Happiest Place on Earth”! So I would definitely be taking my bestie to Disneyland! This will totally take about 2 days to get the full experience. For coffee I would take them to Coffee Dose and Da Vien. For drinks I would take them to RISE so we can enjoy some cocktails as we watch the Disneyland fireworks. For dinner, if we’re looking for trendy, I would take them to Palmilla Cocino. For low key and amazing Italian food, I’d take them to Mulberry St Ristorante! And this wouldn’t be a trip to Orange County without boba! I would take them to The Alley or Sunright Boba!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to thank Derma Noor Medical Spa for welcoming me with open arms! Honestly, they were the first med spa to make me feel like I wasn’t being held back! They literally unlocked my full potential as an injector. I am so happy that I became a part of this team!
