We had the good fortune of connecting with Arella Devorah and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Arella, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I’ve always been creative as a child and loved singing, it was just something I did naturally and always felt like my true self wherever I did express myself in this way. There isn’t anything that makes me light up more than singing, and it is my greatest artistic passion. Not only am I creative musically, but visually as well – I always loved picking up the camera to create beautiful images and also draw art.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been singing my whole life, since I was a child. I started singing in my room a lot and then later for audiences of people. I noticed a lot of people enjoyed listening to me, so it made me want to sing more.

To overcome challenges, I read a ton of self-help books and listen to podcasts to keep me in a positive mindset. I think it is really important to surround yourself with people who are encouraging and want to see you be your best self. If you haven’t found those people yet, then just surrounding yourself with positive books and videos can help a lot as well.

My most recent cover is of me singing “Fire on Fire” by Sam Smith. I really felt like this cover allowed me to express myself vocally throughout the song. It is definitely one of my favorite songs that I have covered.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
That’s a great question. I’ve been living in West Hollywood for a while now, so I know this area pretty well. I’ve always loved going to the Hollywood Rosevelt and Chateau Marmont. Sometimes, I also like to get out of the city for a bit too, so I go to the beaches over in Malibu occasionally. There is another part of me that still gets this nostalgic feeling wherever I’m in the woods, so I enjoy going up to the mountains in Big Bear also.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yes, there is a book called “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. The book is not really about money, but it teaches you how to believe and have faith in yourself. There is one passage that talks about burning all the bridges that stand in the way of your dreams. That passage really stood out to me because it emphasizes the importance of focusing on what you really want, rather than falling back on a backup plan.
