Meet Ariel Allen-Lubman | Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ariel Allen-Lubman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ariel, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
With so much of the perception of success right now being around social media performance, every post that doesn’t do well can feel like a reason to give up. It’s been a vital ongoing mental process to redefine what matters most and work to see the bigger picture. Because there is no giving up when you are a life long artist. I will always be making more music and more art whether or not people see it on their feeds. Lately I’ve been reminding myself that being an artist is in fact a life long thing and I get to choose the direction it takes, not the algorithm.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a songwriter, producer, visual artist and content creator (I mean you basically have to be if you are pursuing music online now right?). I’ve always been drawn to exploring different genre influences and sound design but at the core is a tendency for fun, exploration and candid emotional expression.
I’ve been writing songs since I was 11. I started out only writing on piano or guitar and all I wanted for the longest time was to be able to turn my songs into full recordings and play around with fun interesting sounds. Now that I’ve been producing myself for close to a decade, I think that continues to the one of the things I’m most excited about. I hope I never lose that sense of wonder about turning songs into colorful recordings.
I’m very excited for the EP I’ll be releasing in July, a follow up to my album “I Love Getting Dumped!”. Apart from the sharp songwriting, the production in the recordings is full of detail that I hope people keep coming back to!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout two close artist friends, JER and Medusa. The conversations I’ve had with them have helped shape my outlook on the importance of making music as a lifelong pursuit (especially when I’m crashing out about my posts flopping haha). Their artistic visions and ability to fuse genres keeps inspiring. And they both have new projects releasing soon!
