We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Grimes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
Contrary to popular belief, writing a children’s book isn’t as easy as many may think. There are a lot of things that go into creating one. Even I underestimated the process.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
For many years, I pursued an array of things in hopes of finding my purpose.
It wasn’t until I surrendered and submitted to God that I would discover purpose.
Today, I am a children’s book author and I couldn’t be more excited than to be entrusted to write for the next generation.
My mission is to write books that inspire children to grow continuously in their faith.
I love what I do but it didn’t come without it’s fair share of challenges. As a new author who decided to self publish I faced a lot of hardship.
However, the hardships and obstacles helped to prepare me for where God was taking me.
Along the way I learned that if God has put a dream in you He will help you bring it to pass. I also learned the importance of being a good steward over what God entrusted you with. Lastly, I learned that obstacles aren’t always a sign to stop doing a thing but instead it can serve as an indicator to keep going.
I want people to remember there is someone somewhere waiting on you to do what God called you to do. So the next time you think about giving up, I want you to ask yourself “who’s waiting on me so that they can rise up?”
Always remember that no matter how long it takes, keep going! God called me to write a book 5 years ago, it didn’t come to pass until now. Don’t ever give up!
Lastly, trust God’s timing for your life. His timing is perfect.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I moved to Atlanta in the pandemic so I am just now getting out to explore this beautiful city.
A few places I love going to is Avalon, Ponce City Market and Atlantic Station. They all have a plethora of restaurants to choose from and it’s the perfect place to take a nice stroll.
I’m really into history, arts, and nature. So I would highly recommend checking out The MLK Memorial, High Museum of Art and Piedmont Park.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I can’t begin to thank or recognize anyone before recognizing God.
I am nothing without God and I wouldn’t be where I am today without Him.
I would like to thank my mother. She’s my best friend, my number 1 fan, and my biggest supporter.
