We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Hall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued a creative career because the signs were all there. I struggled with corporate jobs – I didn’t enjoy them, they weren’t challenging enough, or they didn’t have budgets to keep me, and more. It got frustrating after a while to continue running into these blocks, so I had to figure something out, and quickly. I was already blogging and after being at a Valentine’s Day event in 2017 with a lot of the mega influencers, I knew I was where I was supposed to be. Time and time again, I’ve seen multiple signs to let me know that I’m on the right track, so I continue to press forward.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a digital creator, so I share content across social media. I think what sets me apart from others is my relatability. I like talking in my content as if I’m talking to friends. I go through real life stuff, too and I speak on those things as well. I’m also very proud product of the Bronx, and I make sure that people know. I got to this level, professionally, by being myself and networking. I truly believe in the saying “Your network is your net worth” and it has proven to be true on many occasions. My network has gotten me in plenty of doors, and I’m forever grateful. Even with my network, it’s not easy, even where I am currently. There are a lot of nos, and sometimes no response at all, as well as plenty of other challenges along the way. You legit just have to keep pushing. I’m also a firm believer that if there’s a will, there’s a way, so sometimes you gotta really figure out how to make something shake. I want the world to know that it’s really not easy, but I think my attitude and presentation gives off that vibe. I’m probably sweating behind the scenes, but it has to be done lol

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Luckily, a lot of my friends live in NYC or are products of NYC, so I would have it easy. BUT if I had a friend visiting from out of town, they’d have to hit Zona de Cuba in the Bronx; the food is amazing and the view is perfect. I’d also take them to one of my favorite salons in the city for a pedi; the Lacquer Room in the Bronx is my go to. Then, they’d have to go shopping in the city; I prefer to online shop, but sometimes I like going into store and touching things still. I’d take them to Thai Villa for the best thai food, the DL is my favorite rooftop lounge, and to Long Island City. There’s a park over there with perfect views of the city overlooking the water. I also hope they like seafood because City Island is seeing me!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I absolutely believe my community – family, friends and management agency – deserves this shoutout. They have been in my corner and continue to push me. My career path isn’t easy, but having a strong community definitely helps, and they have all made it so much easier to navigate, in one way or another. I truly appreciate them.
