Meet Asia Bonetto | Film Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Asia Bonetto and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Asia, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
People who are not involved in the film industry probably don’t realize how much time filmmakers put into their movies. It is actually so much work and in most cases it takes years before you can see the movie completed. The pre-production of a movie is always at least 3 months, but in most cases 6 months. Then the principal photography stage and production takes around 1 or 2 months if we are talking about a feature film. And the post production afterwards usually requires at least 6 months. Speaking about the production phase, to shoot 1 scene you’re gonna need on average 3 or 4 hours, depending on how many setups you are visualizing for the scene. The work behind the making of a movie is insanely long process

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As a Santa Monica / Venice local, I love my walks to the beach. Whenever I have someone visiting LA my must do activity is taking them on a long walk to the beach. I usually start in Santa Monica and go from the Santa Monica pier to the Venice sign and back. Along the way, I always stop at a fruit stand, at Perry’s for a coconut water or simply by the ocean to peek into possible dolphins, surfers or to peacefully stare at the waves.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The Santa Monica College Film Program is the one that shaped me into the filmmaker and producer I am today. All my successes are owed to the mentors, Professors and community I met there.
