We had the good fortune of connecting with Asia Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Asia, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Right now my lock screen on my phone has a verse that says ” Experience makes you more patient, and you are most patient when you ignore insults.” Proverbs 19:11 This verse remains on my lock screen because I find it so relevant to my life and my career. The more I experience, wether it is good or bad, I am always learning something new and I’m so grateful to be able to take whatever I learn into a different experience in my life and use that knowledge. Also, this verse reminds me that not everything is meant for me and I know I will hear a lot of “no’s” throughout my journey. So knowing that, not to get discouraged by those “No’s” and to keep on moving and shining through this beautiful thing called Life!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a dancer, choreographer and an actor and I know what sets me apart from others is that I am so unapologetically ME! I really make sure in whatever project I am taking on at the time that I am giving 100% of my energy and I am putting my authentic self into it. I don’t enjoy being a follower or just doing things because everyone else is doing it, So when it comes to creating something new I always just follow my own intuition and what feels right to me.
I’m really excited about the future. Of course, I have no idea what’s about to come but based off of the projects I have recently been working on I have a good feeling about it . Also, I have this inner knowing that good things are coming. So until then i’m going to continue to keep working, creating and evolving. All of the trainings and mentorships, collaborations with other artists and friends, and consistency and hard work towards my craft has gotten me to where I am today professionally.
No. Of course it wasn’t easy. It’s never going to be easy, and if it is easy I don’t want any part of it because I know I didn’t work hard for it! In order for me to overcome the challenges I have faced so far it took a lot of time, practice and focus. I definitely feel like I have learned to be patience every step of the way because when I first started with my career I wanted everything to happen right then and there. Time and patience plus hard work and being consistent is the key to success.
I just want anyone who is following my journey to know that if you have a dream follow that dream because it is possible. Never give up or doubt yourself because you are worthy and there is a place in this piece of world for EVERYONE. It’s not gonna be easy, but call me crazy because in my opinion the challenges we face make life a lot more fun and entertaining!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
OMG! Now that things are officially starting to open up some places I would definitely take a friend is to Six Flags and Disneyland! I have yet to go to Six Flags Magic Mountain since moving to LA so that’s definitely the first stop. Another day I would probably take us on a hike in Malibu there are two hiking trails that I LOVE! Corral Canyon (which has amazing views of the ocean and the city), and Escondido Falls (where you can hike to a waterfall… I must say this hike is a little bit more intense). I also love hitting up the beaches in Malibu. There is an area right near the Malibu pier where you can rent stand up paddle boards and just chill in the water for the day and watch the surfers! Another day I would take them to Pasadena to take the 3 mile walk around the Rose Bowl. I usually go for runs in that area and to reward myself after a run I head over to Roots and Rye that has THE BEST Acai blueberry smoothies. Speaking of Acai… In West Hollywood there is this place called Body Energy Club and that spot has the best acai bowls. I usually get the Blueberry Almond or Strawberry Acai Bowl. Of course I can’t forget the tourist attractions such as the Hollywood sign and Hollywood Blvd. Lastly I would take my friend to Santa Monica to check out the pier and rent bikes to ride along the boardwalk all the way to Venice. Honestly, there are so many things to do out here in LA. You really can’t fit it all in one week lol! Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
OH MAN! There so many people that have helped me grow throughout my journey. I want to give a shoutout to my agent Lyndsay Marie Farias and the rest of The Movement Talent agency team for signing me throughout the midst of the pandemic and keeping me booked and blessed. Thank you to Andye J, Rhapsody James, Cat Rendic,Tia Rivera and Kim Gingras for mentoring me throughout the past year. I am so grateful for all the connections I have made throughout each of their mentorship programs. Lastly, I would love to give a shoutout to all of my friends and family, new and old, that continue to follow and support my journey. All of your love and support means so much to me and inspires me to keep shining everyday!
