We had the good fortune of connecting with Audrey Saca and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Audrey, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Growing up I was surrounded by a lot of art, my Papi loves to sing and my Nana was a preschool teacher. They always encouraged me to express myself creatively. My family often shares amazing stories of their lives with me, leading to my imagination running wild! I didn’t know until I was in high school that I wanted to pursue an artistic career. In high school I helped with the yearbook and my teacher, Mr. Gross encouraged me to try adding a video aspect to the yearbook. That helped me gain confidence in my storytelling which led me to try a creative path. I really am grateful to them and my parents because I chose a creative career to share stories that are powerful and that can change people’s perspectives.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am very proud to be a filmmaker. I love to write and direct ,but have helped as a production designer on a few projects. I studied at California State University Northridge, where in my senior year was chosen to be one of four Hollywood Foreign Press Association scholars. As an HFPA scholar I wrote and directed my senior thesis film Un Día Más Un Día Menos, which has been in film festivals such as Nvision Latino Film and Music Festival, The Beverly Hills Film Festival, CSU Media Arts Festival and KCET’S Fine Cut Festival where they broadcasted my film on PBS SoCal! Being in a creative field has not been easy, I was in film school during Covid and graduated and starting my career during the strikes. There have definitely been times where self doubt has come into play, as well as imposter syndrome ,but I think that’s what many experience because we truly care. I learned to not rush myself, this industry moves slow and I learned to be open to opportunities that come my way. I also learned the power of having a great group of people around you who support you in every way whether it’s reading a first draft or helping me on a shoot.
What I want the world to know about me is I am a go getter and that I am always eager to learn from someone. I have so many ideas that I want to create, I just know my time will come to share them!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oooh what a fun question! I am from the San Fernando Valley so I would definitely stop by my favorite food spots like El Tijuanese for tacos or El Ricon Criollo for incredible homestyle Peruvian food! Since I am a film nerd I would show them some iconic location where they shot movies like The Karate Kid or E.T. Next I would take them to grab some ice cream and head over to the beach to catch a beautiful sunset.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my family and my teachers who help me grow everyday, without them I wouldn’t have taken the leap of faith to choose a career that makes me proud.
