We had the good fortune of connecting with Avi Singh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Avi, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I’ve ever had to make was when I was in the midst of my education and career path. I had initially enrolled in a community college with the intention of eventually transferring to a UC to pursue a degree in optometry. However, as I was progressing through my studies, I began hearing more and more about the world of real estate, and it truly fascinated me.
This newfound interest led me to do extensive research and soul-searching. I realized that I had a genuine passion for real estate and the prospect of becoming a realtor. The idea of helping people find their dream homes and the potential for building a successful career in real estate really appealed to me. Moreover, I saw the potential for real estate investments that could secure my financial future.
After careful consideration and weighing the pros and cons, I made the incredibly bold decision to drop out of college and pursue my real estate license. It was an agonizing choice, as I knew I was deviating from the path I had originally planned and invested time and effort into. Also I was afraid of what my traditional Indian parents would think of me dropping out of college. However, I was driven by my passion and a strong belief in the opportunities that real estate could provide.
Fast forward five years, and I can confidently say that my decision has paid off. I’ve been working in the real estate industry, and I consistently close 1 to 2 deals every month. My career is thriving, and I’m excited about the prospects of building my own real estate business and investing in properties. While it was undoubtedly the most difficult decision I’ve ever had to make, I am grateful for the courage to follow my passion and create a successful career in real estate.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets me apart in the real estate industry is my unwavering commitment to treating my clients as if they were family. I firmly believe that buying or selling a home is one of the most significant decisions in a person’s life, and I approach each transaction with the care and consideration I would provide to my own loved ones. This personalized approach, combined with a genuine passion for real estate, has allowed me to build lasting relationships with my clients. I also have put in countless long hours, often without expecting any immediate financial reward. It took me a full six months to close my first deal, and during that time, I encountered moments of doubt and frustration. However, what kept me going was a positive mindset and an unwavering belief in my vision. Overcoming these initial obstacles taught me the importance of resilience, dedication, and continuous learning.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start by soaking up the sun and exploring the vibrant Santa Monica Pier, riding the Ferris wheel and enjoying seaside dining as the sun sets in the evening. The following day, we’d venture into Downtown Los Angeles, exploring art galleries, shops, and historic landmarks, and then unwind at a rooftop bar with a panoramic view of the city skyline. Our exploration of LA would continue with a visit to the Getty Center, where we’d immerse ourselves in art and culture and indulge in a Korean BBQ feast in Koreatown after.
Amid the city’s hustle and bustle, we’d find a serene escape in Griffith Park, hiking up to the Griffith Observatory for breathtaking views. Disneyland would be on the agenda for a day of thrilling rides and great fun with family and friends. A coastal road trip along the Pacific Coast Highway would take us to Malibu and the Getty Villa, with an evening in Santa Monica to explore the vibrant nightlife. Our last day would be dedicated to shopping at the Irvine Spectrum in Orange County, where we’d shop to our content and then relax with a spa treatment.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely, I’d be delighted to give a shoutout to the people who have played a pivotal role in my journey and have been instrumental in shaping my success. First and foremost, I want to dedicate this shoutout to my family. Their unwavering support, love, and encouragement have been the cornerstone of my achievements. From the very beginning, they believed in me and stood by my side, especially during the most challenging decisions I’ve made in my life, such as the bold move to drop out of college and pursue a career in real estate. Their faith in me has been a constant source of motivation and strength. I also want to acknowledge the mentors and colleagues I’ve had the privilege to work with in the real estate industry.
