We had the good fortune of connecting with Ayisa Adderley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ayisa, what inspires you?
I’m inspired by a myriad of things, but my most defining source of inspiration is my fascination with people. I’m inspired by hardworking, caring, creative, and intuitive people. I’m inspired by change and growth and how we come to find it in our lifetimes.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It wasn’t easy to get to where I am so far, and I am still on an uphill climb. Patience is and will constantly be what helps me. Time management and setting boundaries for myself are skills I’m grateful to have really sharpened over the years. Being a songwriter and performer can be really exhausting mentally and physically and it is important to take care of yourself holistically; honestly, this goes for any field, or just life in general. So, I really try to strive for that in myself, and try to encourage those around me to know the same.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Target is my favorite spot to go. I’m not the best tour guide, admittedly. I do have a sweet tooth and my go to sweets stop at the moment is Mochinut at Century City.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mom, definitely. As well, my family and all the friends who have helped me stay creative, inspired, and grounded over the years.
