We had the good fortune of connecting with Aziz Dosmetov and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aziz, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
The end goal is to continue working and learning what I always loved doing. Also, embracing all the challenging aspects of any project and continue to learn from it. I sometimes wish there were more hours in a day for me to work, learn and get a lot of things done. I hope I was able to answer the question.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ll try to summarize this in few sentences. Being in the industry for over a decade teaches you all the dos and don’ts and also helps you narrow your goals down to what you really want and matters. What still matters to me is that I enjoy being involved in interesting projects and they tend to live with me for a long time. So it’s never just “a job” that I have to do, although, I do like getting paid from it. Also, there are a lot of talented and experienced artists I admire who I hope I can collaborate with and continue to advance my skills in all areas of my industry. Other times, just learn, practice and learn more…
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I enjoy most of the areas in LA, whether it’s a walk on the beach, dining in a restaurant or other outside activities. So, I would be down to take a friend who is visiting wherever they would like to go. But if they are visiting with a family and children then the most fun areas for everyone would be going to Disneyland, Universal Studios, Sea World or Zoo. Perhaps, those are my favorite spots where everyone can have fun regardless of their age. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank my family and friends for their continuous support. As well as my school teachers who gave me all the help they could for me to grow professionally. My course director in college, Eric Rosenfeld, for all the opportunities he presented and one of my school teachers, Daniel Moye who taught me the importance of personal brand and how to market yourself. They all played important role in my education and as the years go by, I more and more recognize how important their help was in the beginning. Also, they’re all great human beings outside their work and that’s where it starts with me. So let me take the time to say: Thank you, it meant a lot then and it still means a lot to me now.
