Meet BAILI | Songwriter & Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with BAILI and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi BAILI, what inspires you?
I am inspired by human connection. As an artist, I find that there is a profound beauty in the way people relate to one another, the emotions they share, and the stories that unfold through these connections. I believe that these connections are the essence of our humanity and are rich with emotions, complexities, and experiences that I strive to capture and convey through my art. It’s the genuine, raw, and often unspoken aspects of these connections that I find most compelling, and I hope that my art, whether it be found in the melodies or in the words, can help others appreciate and connect with these aspects. We are not meant to create “perfect” art – just something that makes you FEEL.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What has always set me apart is my deep connection to human experiences & emotions. I spent so much of my life trying to feel “less deeply” so as to not inconvenience those around me. I had no idea how to channel this energy until I started writing poems and creating music around those exact feelings I was avoiding. That expression changed my life in more ways than one.
Although I am still experimenting (aren’t we all), my journey in music has been incredibly rewarding, but it certainly wasn’t without its challenges. My journey is really just starting which is so exciting to me.
I try to think less on the out-come of where I’ll end up, and more on the present experiences that it all presents, because I’ve noticed that the substance of my art decreases when I’m not presently writing or creating. When I think too far ahead, I get distracted from what I truly am doing this for, which is simply expression.
My professional journey hasn’t been easy, as I’ve encountered various hurdles, from self-doubt to external criticism and other constraints. What’s helped me overcome these challenges has been resilience and a commitment to my craft with the people who truly support me – who saw something in me before I did. I still seek mentorship, continuously work on expanding my skill set, and embrace failure as a valuable learning opportunity.
My story is one of perseverance and I want to connect with the people who overcame challenges that most people couldn’t even face. I want to be a voice for people who want to express themselves freely against the constraints the world has put on them.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Something about looking at the city and buildings has always been inspiring to me, so anywhere that we can see the city from above!
Shoutout Hilltop Cafe in DTLA btw – the best lavender latte EVERRRR. And the vibes are immaculate. Thank you for your service lol.
Another fave is The Penthouse Restaurant in Santa Monica. The views are so beautiful and it’s always an experience for my friends that are not from here. Those sunset views really do something to me.
Overall, there’s always something to do in LA and the spontaneity of it is what’s exciting. As long as we’re around good, creative energy – I’m happy!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Although there are many people that have had an impact on my journey, I want to give a special shoutout to someone who works harder than anyone I know. Kii (also known as Maur Kii) a dear friend, brother & mentor, deserves all his flowers. His dedication to learning music inside & out and his heart being open to the people he calls family is undoubtedly admirable. Over the years, he has watched me become who I am today, and still plays a huge roll in supporting who I am becoming. It is rare to come across someone who believes in himself (and others) so full-heartedly. I love watching him instill this in everyone he meets! Love you bro.
