We had the good fortune of connecting with Bambi Haze and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bambi, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Being able to make a living off of my passions has been my goal for as long as I can remember. As a child, I began to express my creativity through various mediums- writing poems and short stories, learning instruments and performing solos in the school choir, eventually starting my own bands and collectives with other artists. Through many trials and errors, I gained experience and quickly discovered how crucial an understanding of business and marketing can be in the industry, even for an artist with no interest in anything but creating. At this point, I take as much pride in my business savvy as I do my musical ability. However, it is still the passion to share my story and connect with listeners on a deeper level that drives me to pursue my goals as an artist.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Most who pursue a career in the arts are well aware of the challenges that lie ahead of them. For every artist who’s dreams are realized, there are thousands who will never even be blessed with an opportunity to show what they can do. Call me crazy, but the odds never felt like an obstacle for me. Rather than focusing on how difficult the path I’d chosen might be, I built my confidence by learning as much as I could from as many different people as I could. I became obsessed with music as a toddler, and by the time I graduated high school had learned various instruments, performed hundreds of small shows, developed my songwriting in many genres, and began recording and releasing entire original albums. My first chance to elevate to the next level came when I moved to New York City from the suburbs of Chicago, upon my acceptance to New York University’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music. Not only did I learn about every facet of the industry in my courses, but by fully immersing myself in the culture of the city. I began performing and collaborating with extremely talented, often renowned individuals throughout the five boroughs. Shortly after graduation, I made another major move to Miami. I spent my time there branching out further and using new tools to promote my brand- eventually becoming the host and organizer of a weekly event at a club called “Racket” in the Wynwood Arts District, where I performed and set up performances for other artists, while promoting, organizing and hosting all of the VIP tables. After spending three years in Miami, I was offered a non-exclusive deal with Epidemic Sound- a label based in Sweden with US offices in NYC and Los Angeles. I accepted and have been living in Los Angeles since New Year’s Day 2020. Since then, I have been perfecting my new sound with a focus on Reggaeton and Latin Pop. Look forward to many new releases in the coming months!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
What truly sets Los Angeles apart from the other great American cities is the fact that you can stumble upon so many different cultures, terrains, and experiences without venturing beyond the area. Within twenty to thirty minutes one way, you can be at the beach in Santa Monica, check out Downtown LA’s nightlife, walk among the stars in Hollywood, get a taste of luxury in Beverly Hills, or even go hiking through the mountains. Depending on your vibe for the day, there’s always something wonderful and spontaneous a few miles away.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to send a shoutout to my ancestors, my lost loved ones, my God above, and my family and friends who have always supported my goals, and uplifted me as an artist- as well as a human being.
