We had the good fortune of connecting with Bandee Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bandee, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk falls on a balance beam, like the greater the risk the more successful the end result could be or vice versa. In order to establish balance while taking risk, a person must know their worth they are able to put on the line comfortably. In my career I tend to evaluate and re-evaluate things over and over to access the who, what and when prior to concluding a decision. I find when I take my time to think things through and process scenarios I lower my risk of failing or not performing to the best of my abilities. There’s been plenty of opportunities that I’ve had to pass on because at the time it wasn’t vital to my career or my life. Not every situation is for you, no matter what people offer or how free it may appear.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It took me 4 years and a year break from music to get where I’m at today. I have put in a lot of money, sweat and tears to figure out that I could only trust who believe in my vision. I’ve loss family, friends, music videos, social media pages and some more for me to come to terms with I’m alone in this game till I find people who care about my vision as much as me, if not more. Nothing we do in life is easy, I believe you better go hard at everything until nothing becomes something.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My Best friend or “Best” as we call each other, are introverts when we get together. I love when she comes to Cali we get our nails done, ride through Oakland all the way to Richmond. We are very much opposites but we know how to coexist with each other. Like we might stop in the 100s (East Oakland) to get some weed then do the dash to Central Richmond to see her family and get dressed. Then we back to the downtown Oakland for a night in the town, first stop Complex grab us some food and a shot. After pull up to Ebxo or Hello stranger till its time to hit the after hours, my Fave bay area clubs/promoters are Insomnia, Risktakerose, Dezi’s, Dreamchasers Ent, and Bosses and Strippers. Some fire food spots from Alameda to San Leandro, Ole Waffle house, Smokin wood, Southern Cafe, Mills Hoggie shop, Phongs, Happy Dog, and Little Namking. Special shout out to The Hunkster, IamJayrock, Dj Taybottles, Produced by Fat Rob, Slapwagon Studio, X4l Entertainment, The Exposure Program, Dj Ricklee, and XitPro Films.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I first want to thank God for always pulling me through and giving me strength when I didn’t know I needed it. I want to recognize my son Asiere, my management team Pink Bandit Entertainment, and my favorite cousin Rashida Lewis without you guys I don’t think I would of gotten this far!
