We had the good fortune of connecting with Bao Su and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bao, what is the most important factor behind your success?

Customer service! For any successful business, developing and selling a good product or service is only half of the battle. Providing consumers with great customer support is just as important.  It will effectively guide and assist all customers throughout the entire experience of shopping.  In addition to this, great customer service provides a higher level of value to the customers as well as to my business, products and service.   Similarly, it increases customer retention, recurring revenue, and a positive brand image, which is the key to any successful business.  By providing top-notch customer service, businesses are provided with the opportunity to recoup customer acquisition costs and cultivate a loyal following that refers customers.  Furthermore, when my customers are happier, they are more likely to spread the goodness to friends, family, coworkers and are more likely to share their positive brand experience with others.  Think about it: if you have a stunning experience with a brand, you’re probably going to rave about it to your friends over dinner later that night.  Throughout this journey, I have been able to establish great relations with my customers, which some have turned into lifelong friendships.  That to me is priceless.

With that being said, I will be launching a new brand in the early summer of 2021 with high hopes that it will be just as successful as Body Bling Jewelry.  I am also the co-owner of Threadz4All lifestyle apparel, which is a clothing line with a mission to unify communities across the world with the common ground of love, peace and humanity.  Threadz4All stands against racism through the unique messages printed on all of our threadz.  Stay tuned!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

My professional career is in the dental field. I am an office manager with an RDAEF license in an established dental office located in Newport Beach, CA. I have been managing the office for 24 years and continuing my education in the health industry. Being a single mom, you can never have too many licenses especially during this pandemic. As a mom of two college kids, being financially stable is a top priority for me, which is part reason for my business venture with Body Bling Jewelry. It was my goal and mission to be the leading jewelry company in the bodybuilding industry for female athletes. Starting a new business is always stressful. With that comes many challenges and lessons. How do I market my brand? How do I get the industry to recognize my brand? How do I stand out from my business competitors? The list goes on and on. As a competitor myself, I found it very difficult to find unique custom jewelry with lasting quality. For many years, it was a trend to wear clear jewelry however; I did not want to be status quo. All of the well-known competition jewelry companies carried only “clear” accessories. I wanted to stand out and be different from the rest of the athletes on stage. It was my mission to find the perfect jewelry with a “pop of color” to compliment my suit. Many athletes told me that wearing colored rhinestone jewelry was not in the rules.  There were pro-athletes that were skeptical and bashed my brand on social media. With the negative feedback I was receiving, it fueled my passion and motivated me to be the first company to start something new and offer unique fashionable jewelry to the stage that no other company was able to accomplish. That is when I found that void in the market and it was game over! January 1, 2018 was the birth of Body Bling Jewelry. A year into branding my business, I noticed other companies following suit. That is when I knew I made my mark in the industry. My company has gone global; I have loyal customers from all over the world.  From Japan, Germany, Australia, Mexico, Barbados, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, the list goes on.  Today, I am proud to say that my company is the game changer in this sport. Not only do I carry jewelry for fitness competitors, I also carry jewelry for any occasion.  At Body Bling, I am a one stop online shop that carries fashionable competition bling for on or off stage. I carry unique and one of a kind jewelry. I work closely & collaborate with most of the high-end suit designers in the industry and am a personal stylist for their sponsored athletes and customers. Together we finalize the athlete’s stage glam. What sets Body Bling Jewelry apart from others is my personal touch to their custom jewelry and I ensure that everyone has an amazing experience.

I am an advocate for woman owned businesses especially for single moms.  I hope to inspire other single moms to pursue their dreams of being a business owner.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting the area for a week and I wanted to show her a good time, I would plan activities for each day that she was here. Monday: -Go get breakfast at Urth Cafe then walk down to the beach and check out the local stores -Go to the local farmers market to pick up fresh ingredients to make a fun lunch meal -Head to a new pop-up art museum for a fun night activity Tuesday: -Take an outdoor spin class and top it off with some fresh açaí bowls -Go to the mall for some shopping -Have a stay at home night with some wine, fun card games and watch RHOA Wednesday: -Grab a bite to eat at Moulin French cuisine -Drive to LA to check out the Melrose Trading Post and walk The Grove -Finish the night by getting some famous Dave’s Hot Chicken Thursday: -Catch the sunrise at the beach following by some morning meditation -Head to Bear Flag for lunch with a beach view -Go to the movie theaters to watch the newest movie Friday: -Drive to Palm Springs for the day -Explore the local shops, restaurants and take some pictures Saturday: -Go on a nice hike -Set up an outdoor picnic with healthy meals and snacks -Buy a large canvas and have an impromptu painting session with some take-out food Sunday: -Head to Pressed Juicery to pick up some healthy juices and a morning bowl -Take a drive down Ortega and stop for the sunset -Go to Yellow Vase in Palos Verde for a relaxing dinner. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Growing up, I have always looked at my mom as such a strong and successful business woman. She was a proud owner of three beauty salons in the LA and OC area. My parents are immigrants and came to the United States to search for a better life in hopes to create opportunity for my brothers and I. Walking in her footsteps, I am also a former business owner of a successful salon.  At a young age, I have been able to learn a lot behind the scenes while working in my mom’s beauty shop. With anything, there are many trial and errors and what comes with that is knowledge, growth, lessons and most importantly, patience.  I was able to implement that into the birth of Body Bling. Being a single mother made life challenging. It was difficult trying to find work life balance. Working full-time, being a mother and taking the chance on opening another business was not an easy task. This is where my dear friend Libbe played a huge part in my success as a business owner. She herself is a single mom that owned multiple businesses in the Massachusetts area. She has inspired, encouraged and supported me throughout this entire business venture. With her guidance and knowledge in retail, it allowed my business to flourish and take off within the first year of launching my brand, Body Bling Jewelry! I definitely owe my success to both my mom and Libbe.  I realize that no dream is ever too big!
