We had the good fortune of connecting with Barbara Daoust and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Barbara, how does your business help the community?
As a Success and Peak Performance Coach, I show people how to go after their dreams in their professional and personal lives. Too many people stop dreaming. They stop using their imaginations or asking for what they really want in life. As a result, most people are playing safe and expecting that they can’t have what they want because they don’t know how to get it. I believe that it’s important to grow, expand, and prosper in order to contribute and give back to family, friends, and community. We are creative beings. It’s important to foster creativity, imagination, and expression. When people feel excited about their dreams, goals and desires, it wakes up a part of themselves that they never knew existed. As we evolve and grow ourselves toward a bigger, brighter future, our awareness grows and we gain a deeper understanding of what it takes to be part of the bigger picture. I like to refer to it as a bigger map view of life. It’s not about holding onto to what you have as much as it is about sharing what you have to offer others. Wherever there are people who embrace a growth mindset there is more sharing, abundance, and happiness. People start to recommend one another’s services, share resources, contribute to charities, volunteer their services, start projects and/or foundations that help people to make their dreams come true.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
For the past ten years as a certified “Thinking into Results” consultant with the Proctor/Gallagher Institute, I’ve helped entrepreneurs, small business owners, leaders and executives access exponential business growth as well as achieve big goals and dreams. I’ve also created several programs, “Your Genius Code Unlocked”, “Discover Greatness Within” and “The Entrepreneur’s Success Formula”. The main idea of the work that I do is to help people go after something big and exciting, a quantum leap and/or something that they would love to do but don’t know how to do. I show them how to make a committed decision and go for their big dream or goal. Once they commit to their dream, build a fantasy around it, reason with the possibility of it becoming a reality, get emotionally involved with it and start taking action, that’s when all the old voices, the excuses, justifications, and rationalizations come rushing in with every reason why they should stop, doubt, or postpone the dream. And there is a reason for this…it becomes a battle between the old self and the new self. The unknown is scary and the decision to go beyond one’s experience, triggers a survival mechanism. We struggle with the possible threat that we may lose everything in our lives, including our own life. Highly successful people live outside the comfort zone. Most people are uncomfortable with the unknown for fear of death or failure, so they go right back to what they know. As the prior coach for the Miami Dolphins, Don Chula said: “It’s the start that stops most people.” I guide people to breakup with their inner barriers, rewire their brains and re-program their minds to step outside the comfort zone and take calculated risks. It’s a game of changing one’s perspective, letting go of the past and focusing on the new possibilities ahead. I use tools, exercises and acting techniques to help people develop a new self-image. These practices build confidence and help people to stay focused on who they are becoming in order to achieve their dream and sometimes, even the unimaginable. I often tell people, “You don’t really know who you are, and you never will, until you discover the parts of yourself that you haven’t yet met…you have to pretend.” It definitely wasn’t easy for me to get to where I am. My entire life was spent in the Theatre, TV and Film industry. I founded a theatre company in San Francisco, directed for other companies, taught creative dramatics to all ages and eventually received my MFA in Theatre Directing from UCLA. I founded an acting academy for young professionals in Sherman Oaks and coached celebrity children on TV sets for ten years. I thought that my career was on track and I was aiming to direct for TV. As I mentioned earlier, two months before my 25th wedding anniversary I lost the love of my life and it’s as if the curtain on my life as I knew it came down for good. Through the love and support of family, friends, and colleagues, I started to rise again but in a completely different direction. That’s when I began my search to better understand what had happened to me and why was change so complicated and at times, devastatingly painful. It took quite some time to rise above the pain and grow the desire to live my life on purpose. As I studied, explored, travelled, and started sharing my experiences with others, I decided to make it my mission to help others breakthrough their barriers, build their self-image and go for their passions. I believe that when you grow your self-worth, you’ll grow your net-worth. It’s all an exchange of value proposition. I would want people to know that I’m caring, compassionate and love helping people achieve their dreams, goals, and desires. I am passionate about people being true to themselves, kind and compassionate with themselves, and finding the untapped parts of themselves. My book, “True Love, True Self: A Journey to Self-Love” tells the story of how I found my way after devastating loss. I discovered that I had been living my entire life from the outside in, seeking approval on the outside. I now know that it’s about creating on the inside first to get the results you want on the outside. We are all creative beings but we haven’t been taught how to use the power of imagination to ultimately help us achieve outstanding results in our lives. I’m here to show people how to build fantasies and turn them into realities.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my best friend on walks and hikes throughout the city. The walk along the Lake Hollywood Reservoir leads to a trail where you can get a close-up view of the Hollywood sign. I would show them the expansive views of the city from Runyan Canyon as well as Griffith Park where you can spend some time the Griffith Park Observatory. We would drive along the coastline to view the spectacular beaches, have a picnic and watch the sun set. Also a trip to The Magic Castle for dinner and a night of magic acts for a fun and unique way to be entertained is always on my list. I would also include a downtown walk to experience a ride on Angel’s Flight, eat at the Grand Central Market, and explore some of the art deco buildings that have been preserved by the LA Conservancy. I live in the Studio City area where Universal Studios is right around the corner, and most of my friends have that on their list. For a great breakfast, lunch and dessert, I would bring them to Aroma Coffee and Tea cafe on Tujunga Blvd. where we would also shop in the local boutiques that are one-of-a-kind. For dinner, it’s worth standing in line for best sushi place in Studio City, Sugarfish.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many mentors, teachers, friends, and colleagues who have contributed to my success and I’m forever grateful. After the loss of my husband, Patrick, a couple of months before our 25th wedding anniversary, I would not be on the path I’m on now without the help of friends and family who supported me through my grief and subsequent losses. I would like to give a shoutout to Paul Piasko who offered me free pottery classes. Joining his 9am pottery class in Studio City was the first time in months that I got out of bed before 1pm. Pottery classes helped me to feel creative and still my mind. Then there was Arna Vodenis, who invited me to be part of creating an art studio at the Center for Energetic Healing in Simi Valley. Her gifts to me were so many. She was also the person who suggested that I study Spiritual Psychology at the The University of Santa Monica. My mentors at the time were Ron and Mary Hulnick. I learned so much about human psychology, spirituality, and coaching. Throughout all of my grief, searching for my ‘What’s next?’ in my life, was a dear friend, Louis Lotorto, who stuck by my side and loved me unconditionally. We have become life partners and have been building new dreams together. He has supported my journey and encouraged me every step of the way to become more successful and live my life on purpose. A shoutout to Christy Whitman, my first mentor who taught me about the Universal Laws and certified me as a Quantum Success coach. Christy started me on the journey of teaching others how to create a life by design and not by default. Back in 2013 I met Bob Proctor who changed my world dramatically. I was ready by that time to build a business doing what I loved doing. Bob showed me how to apply business concepts, success principles and spirituality to my business as a certified, “Thinking into Results” consultant. Now I work with entrepreneurs, small business owners, leaders and teams who want to play a bigger game in business and life. I speak on a regular basis, write articles, hold coaching groups globally and show people how to embrace change as an opportunity for growth. For the past three years, I’ve been blessed by my partnership with Dr. Jussi Eerikainen, a cardiologist, mathematician, author and brainwave entrainment expert. Together we are creating programs to help people discover their greatness within. I’m also very grateful to our fellow developer, Austin Thomas. My list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning my loving family, amazing friends, neighbors, colleagues, and clients who have given me their love, support, and guidance. The list of books that have had tremendous impact on me are: 1. “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill 2. “The Power of Awareness” by Neville Goddard 3. “You Were Born Rich” by Bob Proctor 4. “You2” and “The Quantum Leap Strategy” by Price Pritchett 5. “Working with the Law” by Raymond Holliwell 6. “Ask and it is Given” by Gerry and Esther Hicks 7. “Breaking up with the Habit of Being Yourself” by Dr. Joe Dispenza 8. “The Biology of Belief” by Bruce Lipton 9. “Transforming Vibes, Transforming Lives” by Dr. Jussi Eerikainen 10. “The Intention Experiment” by Lynne McTaggart 11. “The Heart’s Code” by Paul Pearsall 12. “Dying to be Me” by Anita Moorjani 13. “The Strangest Secret” by Earl Nightingale
