Meet Barbara Horvat | actress, content creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Barbara Horvat and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Barbara, what matters most to you?
Authenticity.
I think life is significantly more fun when you’re authentic. When you show up in the world as 100% you, no matter what people say. I used to hinder lots of parts of me out of fear of judgement. As soon as I let that go, my mindset is just so much healthier and I have achieved inner peace I didn’t know was possible.
So definitely being yourself is what makes life so much fun!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The path of an artist is a weird one. I definitely learned to not take things for granted – to soak up every busy season even if it’s making you exhausted. I learned to really store and cherish memories that come with every project I’ve worked on.
Biggest lesson I learned is to be patient and knowing your worth. There is much that can be said on the topic of being hungry for progress and success. I think that’s when the least amount of progress happens – when you’re desperately trying to make it work. I’ve learned to not take things personally and just go with the flow. Finding happiness outside of success makes things so much easier. You really do approach life with “what’s meant for me, will find me” when you stop chasing things. And with that – you attract so much more than you even thought was possible.
I always try to be there for other people to cheer them on and encourage them. I love celebrating success of my friends and I am so proud of anyone out there who is facing their fears!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Getty museum, absolutely. It’s actually free and there is so much to see.
The Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens as well – such a calming and peaceful place.
If there is time also Franklin canyon park to look at the turtles at Turtle pond.
We would absolutely pack a picnic and eat somewhere at a picnic table.
For a fun night out we’d hit Viper room or La cita.
If the weather is nice I’d take one day to visit some beaches by the PCH – Leo Carillo, El Matador,… where we could also camp (if it’s not all booked yet!)

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a shoutout to Matthew Arkin, my former teacher at an acting school I went to. His way of teaching impacted me deeply and I am honored I was able to have him as a mentor for that period of my life.
I would also like to give a shoutout to Kika, my mentor and my guardian angel from EOArts organization who has been with me every step of the way during my transition from living in motherland to being a part of the US film industry.
