Meet Barbie Boi | Professional Wrestler & Professional Wrestling Company Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Barbie Boi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Barbie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Honestly my thought process was to create a safe space for people. I was outcasted, bullied and felt so unwelcome in many environments in wrestling and I did not want any other people to feel that way.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is being a professional wrestler. I have loved wrestling since I was 6 years old. All I ever cared about was wrestling and how much I wanted to become a wrestler. I was afraid for so long to try it that I put it in the back burner and became a dancer. Then one greatly fateful day in Toys R Us, in the wrestle aisle, I made conversation with someone else in the aisle and he so happened to be in wrestling school nearby that I had no idea about. I went to that school the very next week and here we are 8 years later. It was not an easy journey to say the least. Emotionally and physically it has been one of the biggest challenges in my life. To overcome those major challenges I found people in wrestling who I know have my back no matter what and will stay by my side against all the hate and negativity some wrestlers can bring. Being apart of the LGBTQI+ community has its challenges in wrestling but I have learned now to be true to who I am and be. proud and stop letting people and their hurtful ways get in my way of what I know I can do. I want everyone to know that no matter who you love, what you weigh, what you look like etc, you can be who you always dreamed of being and do not let negative, closed minded people bring you down. Life is too short and life is too precious to give up. Barbie taught me you can be anything, and that’s exactly what I am doing, being a professional wrestler.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
That is so hard! There is so many things! Besides clearly watching wrestling live at a local show or attending my very own company show Alliance for All Wrestling, there is a plethora of things to do. We could hit up Universal Studios and ride the tram ride and get soaked on Jurassic World or have a magical time at Disneyland and let ourselves be kids again! As Barbie does we would go shopping at every mall in a 30 mile radius then go to the movies get ice cream! To dance the night away lets go live the nightlife like Paris Hilton in West Hollywood! The psi can go on forever, but what matters is who is right by your side

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There is so many people who I would love to give a huge shoutout too! The list could go on forever! Besides my family and friends and partner, there is many wrestlers who I need to give a special thank you too. My mentor and his lovely wife Ray Rosas and Yulie. I would not be where I am without them! My bestie tag partners, Mylo, Johnnie Robbie, Delilah Doom, Nina and Zara. These girls have stuck by my side throughout everything and I would not be who I am without them. For my boys Diego Valens, Maximilien Monclair and Koto Hero are huge factors of why I am successful and why AFA is where it is. There is so many more people so overall thank you to everyone who has supported me and got me to where I am today.
