Meet Bea Ramos | Actress

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bea Ramos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bea, what is the most important factor behind your success?
When you have a calling, there’s no way of shutting that voice up, no matter how many times you try. In my case, having a corporate job besides my acting career made me realize on my daily basis where I wanted to be both personally and professionally. I found, and still do at the moment, people who are unsatisfied with their career choices and trapped in a job and life that doesn’t correspond with what they once thought it’d be. And , to be honest, that terrifies me! So I made sure I wasn’t one of them. Of course it is hard by days but I rather be uncomfortable trying to find my way out than being uncomfortable by staying the same.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve always wanted to be an actress, ever since I was very little . I remember I would always play role games during school breaks and it became even more clearer for me when I went to see Harry Potter at a friend’s birthday when I was 11. While watching the movie I thought ‘I want to do that!’ Not magic, but acting. I wanted to be able to tell stories, to engage with the audience.
But I was scared and second guessing myself until I was around 16-17 where I came clean and said it out loud. And when I was 19 I moved to Madrid to make that dream of mine happen. Funny enough I always felt like I belonged to the international market even if I didn’t know how to make it work. We have to realize that 12,13 years ago we didn’t have streaming platforms like Netflix or HBO in Spain so Spanish actors weren’t that well located in the map, right? It wasn’t until Money Heist or Elite that people realized who we are, besides who Penèlope Cruz, Javier Bardem or Pedro Almodóvar are (which I LOVE them all, don’t get me wrong!)
Coming from a family that has nothing to do with the arts, hasn’t been easy. Impostor syndrome and fears have been coming and going throughout the years. So much that I needed to take a break for a couple of years. And let me tell you, it was the saddest time of my life! I wasn’t able to watch, listen, read anything that I found slightly inspirational. I locked the door for what I thought it was for good.
But life is amazing with its turns, ups and downs and after going through an unexpected passing in my family I realized life is too short to not be who you want.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’ve been living here for plus 10 years and still haven’t done it all, Madrid has so many options!. So if my best friend was coming , we would start our day off with an early brunch at Mür Café -one of the best in town! As it is close to Gran Vía I’d show them around and take them to the Barrio de las Letras which is one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in town where all writers used to live (Hence, the name).
As we had brunch we wouldn’t be having any lunch so I’ll take them to grab a coffee and a cinnamon roll at Salt in Cake. After having strolled around the Retiro Park for a bit, I’d take them to the Debod Temple to go and watch the sunset while having a picnic. Sushi included!
To finish it all, we would go to Sala Equis to watch a movie while having a mojito.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It wasn’t until last year that I decided to start doing something for my international acting career and ever since making that choice I can only count my blessings with the people surrounding me. Javier Alcina, Francisco Olmo, Cristina Segovia, Ben Mathes, Leticia Santafé , Luci Lenox, Laura Arias, Vico Vang and Monica Portillo come to mind; they all have played a crucial part for my growth in the last year and a half.
And I will always have a special place in my heart for Shivani Desai. I cannot even put into words how much she has helped me these months. If any actor reading this feels stuck in their careers, go ahead and find her. You can thank me later.
