We had the good fortune of connecting with Beatriz Barajas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Beatriz, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
There are not many women run and Latina owned bitters businesses, When I got inspired to create this, I wanted to make sure that I was doing something in honor of the women in my familia. Bitters are still a bit of a niche market, but they are so versatile and easy to use. I’ve been offering online zoom courses to be able to introduce people to bitters, the basics, how to pair them and all of their uses.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am proud that I can share part of my culture to others and my love of creating. I always told myself I was never really creative for many years of my life, until I pushed myself to find different ways of creating and I found myself within this journey. It wasn’t just about making bitters, it was about stepping into my power and sharing that with my creations. It has not been easy, I still have a ways to go, but I know that more success is waiting for me and i’m ready to have it all. I want the world to know that beauty can come out of the darkness we’ve felt and dealt with. Once you really start trusting yourself and letting go, so much more comes into your life. My brand is about sharing my power, my love for cooking & creating with others. I named my brand Chingona bitters (badass bitters) as an ode to anyone that that has fought their way to heal, grow, express themselves and to honor the strength of their familia.
