We had the good fortune of connecting with Dhillon Alamshaw and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dhillon, what matters most to you?
When discussing principle I believe that friendship is the most pivotal asset any individual may posses. The value of friendship and trust coincides hand in hand with each other. Being able to rely on an immediate friend group to connect you with different businesses and individuals is the strongest benefit anyone has. Most of the connections I’ve made come from friends like Will Collette who have gone out of their way to connect me with various companies that share similar beliefs.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Growing up in Orange County California, I’ve been given access to family friends companies, internships, and job opportunities I wouldn’t have anywhere else. I started my first job scooping ice cream at Baskin Robbins and within a week quit and started working at a restaurant. I worked at Tempo Urban Kitchen in Anaheim Hills for 2 and half years where I learned how to serve people, develop customer services, understand hospitality, and grow my network. I believe it’s truly pivotal for every kid to work a minimum wage restaurant job purely for experience. I had to understand that learning about customer service and how to interact with clients was more important than hanging out with friends. I sacrificed fun for street skills and would not change any way I learned. I believe you will learn more with hands on experience than in school. After working in a restaurant, I proceeded to work for a construction office, a family law office, OC Wine Mart, Discovery Science Center, a dental office, and other jobs. During summer of my freshman year of college, I would wake up and go to my construction office job, to the law office, I would volunteer, do my school work, then work at a restaurant. I was working from 7AM-12PM nonstop. I learned more in that summer (how businesses are operated, how to write a deposition, how to file papers/ taxes, and so much more) than I did in school. I eventually joined the social media world where I currently create content and mange social media accounts for various companies. I run a Tik Tok account (dhillonalamshaw) with over 688,000 followers and an Instagram account with a loyal 5,500 followers. I utilize these platforms to spread positivity, my passion for cars, and just lively and go lucky entertainment. I’ve used these pages to learn about algorithms, Ad tech, and other business tools. I was able to start a job at a Lobbying firm where I worked on various projects with some of the most powerful political figures in the state. I used this knowledge to help other companies expand their social media accounts and help raise awareness and engagement of their products and pages. The journey I’ve taken has never slowed down and has required a lot of sacrifice and leaps of faith. I went from hanging out with friends to working in various industries nearly 7 days a week. I’ve learned that your connections may truly take you further than your titles and to always be open to new opportunities! It’s important for everyone to understand their self worth by surrounding themselves with people of influence and character. When it comes to friends quality over quantity is the most important lesson I can teach everyone. Always be open to new opportunities and focus on building yourself and your community up because there’s enough negativity in the world, so be the change you want to see and go make a difference!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting from out of town we’d have a blast of a week! First things first food. We would go to Tempo for some bomb Mexican food, cruise down PCH and show them around beautiful Orange County and just relax. We’d get ice cream in Corona Del Mar and walk around Fashion Island while enjoying the sunset at Crystal Cove. I’d definitely take them to a supercar show on the weekend, which we’re blessed to have in Southern California. We’d definitely have to be basic and go have an LA day. We’d wake up go to Bluetree in Anaheim Hills aka the best locally owned açaí bowl place and go up to LA. We’d hike the Hollywood sign, go find a clean and fun bunch spot and shower at a friends house (thanks Miles!). From there would go drive through Beverly Hills, drive around Belair and the Wish house and will just enjoy the day. All the exotic dealerships are a must so we would do that, then enjoy a trendy dinner at Catch LA. Next day is an absolute must with Disneyland. Space Mountain?! Enough said. We’d spend the whole day there and get as many rides in as we can. We’d mob down to San Diego just go around La Jolla and enjoy the water and the vibes. I’d have all my trendy friends give me recommendations and possibly go sky diving. Dang this is a packed week! Next day is hard core. We go to K1 speed for a competitive indoor go karting day (I will win). We would definitely eat and drink a lot and would have an action packed week!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to personally thank all my friends and my family for all the opportunities I’ve been granted. Being 21 years old and having a plethora of access and knowledge to various topics such as high end alcohol, jewelry, cars, and businesses allows me to have an upper hand advantage in my life. I’ve been blessed with my career and acceptance from family in pursuing a career in Social Media. I attribute my social skills to my parents and community that raised me. I will never forget while all the other kids were out and playing, my parents sent me to Cotillion/ Manner classes. I was able to learn how to communicate with elders, and highly respected individuals. Without this guidance I do not believe I would have the social abilities and opportunities I have today. Thanks mom and dad I love you guys (:
