We had the good fortune of connecting with BECCA and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi BECCA, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
One aspect outsiders may not realize about the music industry is the extensive teamwork behind every project. While artists often take the spotlight, there is a network of professionals collaborating behind the scenes. Yet, amidst this collaboration, there’s an often exhausting struggle for artists trying to break through. Beyond the glamour, there is hard work, rejection, and uncertainty involved in making a mark in the industry.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My artistry and music are deeply rooted in my Central American heritage, influenced by growing up in LA, serving as a platform to amplify underrepresented voices and celebrate cultural richness.  What sets me apart is my commitment to authenticity and storytelling. I bring personal experiences into every melody and lyric, particularly drawing from my upbringing in a musical family and my love for music nurtured by my grandpa. I’m most proud of my ability to blend traditional sounds with modern influences. For example, merging reggaeton with a pop sound or exploring my new sound, Latin funk pop fusion. I hope this unique fusion resonates with audiences worldwide once ‘Salvadoran Queen’ is out.

Professionally, my journey has been a mix of perseverance and collaboration. Navigating the competitive music industry hasn’t been easy, but I’ve overcome challenges by staying true to my vision and surrounding myself with supportive mentors like K-pop songwriter, producer, and artist, ADN ‘Adien’ LEWIS, who helped develop my first Latin pop record. ADN is a creative I looked up to as I made my way into the industry. Having the honor of someone who worked with my all-time favorite K-pop group ‘BTS’ to be a part of my first record FANTASÍA as ‘BECCA’ means a lot to me.

My creative director, Alejandra Quiroz, whom I met through my podcast ‘Vos Cipota’, has been such an inspiration for me as a woman in Film. She heard and saw my vision and has been executing my first film for my EP titled ‘Salvadoran Queen.’ Latin producer Nain ‘Ninesoul’ Padilla has also served as an inspiration to me. As a Salvadoran-American, he was the first music producer I met who wowed me, showing that there are Salvadorans in the industry; we’re just hidden. I owe all my recent collaborations to Marvin Garcia, the US + Latin Event Specialist at Songtrust. He saw my passion and connected me with the right people to collaborate with to bring my vision to life. Seizing every opportunity to learn and grow has been crucial to my development; it’s crazy that I started in my bedroom with a laptop and no speakers.

Along the way, I’ve learned the importance of resilience, adaptability, and staying true to myself. My brand is about more than just music; it’s about empowerment, representation, and creating a platform for diverse voices to be heard. I want the world to know that my story is one of passion, resilience, and unwavering dedication to uplifting my community and making a positive impact through music.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting the area, I’d ensure they have the best time ever! Here’s a week-long itinerary:

Day 1: Explore Larchmont Village, imagining ourselves inside Paramount Studios. Grab lunch at El Salvador Corridor for delicious pupusas.

Day 2: Start the day with Iced matcha with Lavender syrup and sweet cold foam from Yeem’s Coffee, a personal favorite.

Day 3: Head to Cipota Coffee for their El Morro coffee and food for a Salvadoran vibe. Then, take a stroll around Greystone Mansion to enjoy the city’s view and express gratitude for being a born and raised LA queen.

Day 4: Visit California Market for some delicious kimchi fried rice and Korean corn dogs (spicy version).

Day 5: Spend a full day at Disneyland, exploring both parks.

Day 6: Head to USC Village for some delicious matcha from Cafe Dulce.

Day 7: End the week with a hike at Runyon Canyon Park, soaking in the panoramic views of LA.

It’s a week filled with fun, excitement, and unforgettable experiences!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a shoutout to my mom, my grandparents, my boyfriend, and my Sanchez-Palacios family. They’ve been my biggest support system, enabling me to pursue my dreams as an artist and entrepreneurship, and allowing me to be my own boss. Gardenia Rosales from Cipota Coffee and Jarod Wang from Arroz & Fun for always supporting my ideas and providing me with resources to bring my projects to life. Alejandra Quiroz has been an incredible creative director, helping me execute all my upcoming music video projects. Comedian Jose ‘Hoozay’ Velasquez deserves recognition for supporting my upcoming EP project ‘Salvadoran Queen’ and bringing in all his resources to make it happen for me and overall everyone involved in making my short film happen. I also want to thank the Recording Academy’s GrammyU for providing opportunities to network and navigate the industry and helping me expand my connections. I wouldn’t be where I am today without my amazing support system!
