Meet Becky Feigin | Content Creator + Creative Strategist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Becky Feigin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Becky, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
When I originally started my business, it was 2018 and I was only 23 years old. I had recently lost a contracted position in Creative Strategy and didn’t know what the next step for me was. I had always toyed with the idea of starting my own social media marketing agency, but didn’t think I would do that until I was at least 30 years old so that I could gain experience in the corporate world first. But, when an opportunity presents itself, I am known to jump on it. I was young, my parents were helping me out a bit, and I was still on their health insurance – can you name a better time to take a chance and start your own business?!
I have always been extremely passionate about social media and the marketing opportunities that have been created from social platforms. Understanding social media marketing truly was something that felt natural to me. So, back in 2018, I initially started entrepreneurship and my business with a plan of creating a social media marketing agency. After two months, I discovered the online coaching space and realized it felt more aligned to coach business owners on how to manage their own social media marketing rather than doing it for them. I love working with small businesses and I believe that although social media marketing agencies are valuable and important, there are some businesses that truly thrive so much more when they are running their own platforms.
I did that until I started to feel extremely burned out in 2023. I felt like it was time for a pivot. That’s when I discovered user generated content creation. I’ve always loved content and creating fun little videos, so I started to poke around in that world. At first it was just a side project to fuel my creativity again in a period of burn out, but I quickly realized how much potential the industry had for me and how much money I could be making doing something I found to be so much fun.
September 2023 I fully pivoted into UGC and I haven’t looked back. So in terms of coming up with the business idea, it started from a place of almost desperation as 23 year old me felt lost and unsure in what my next step was. Desperation and passion. Passion fueled me for five years before I knew I needed to pivot and my pivot came from passion and excitement for something new and different.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Getting to where I am today in business was quite the journey and it definitely had a bunch of road bumps along the way. I think the biggest lesson for me has been that being an entrepreneur doesn’t really work if you’re not truly passionate about what you’re doing. Building success takes a lot of work and belief in yourself. I like to tell people that to really see success, you need to be delusional as hell and just truly believe as much as possible with your whole heart that you can accomplish anything. The second you start questioning yourself is when the road gets rocky. We can all bounce back for sure and doubt definitely creeps in, but it’s so important to consistently believe in ourselves. I always say that entrepreneurship is the biggest self-development journey you’ll ever go on. So many ego deaths, so much imposter syndrome, so much doubt, but if you persevere and keep believing in yourself above all else, you will succeed. I truly believe that.
I think the thing that sets me apart is that I always stay true to myself and integrity is so important to me. I know that might seem like a given, but since starting my business, I’ve definitely seen my fair share of people doing things simply for the money. When I was coaching, if I didn’t personally believe in someone’s business, I would not accept them as a client. As a UGC creator, if I don’t believe in a brand or align with the message a brand wants to push, I will turn down a partnership. Some might argue that this holds me back, and monetarily it does at times, but staying in integrity with myself is so important above all else. It allows me to focus solely on businesses I believe in whole-heartedly and put all of my energy into super aligned projects.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I honestly don’t think that I would have ever dove into entrepreneurship if it wasn’t for my dad. My parents are both extremely supportive, but my dad was the one who gave me the courage to take a chance when I was only 23. I vividly remember having a conversation with him where I felt so lost and scared. I had just been let go from a dream role and I didn’t know what my next step was. The position had been remote and I couldn’t imagine going back into an office (I also lived in Kentucky at the time and didn’t feel like there were any companies there that really could offer the career I was looking for, but moving didn’t seem like an option for some reason). My dad sat me down, told me everything was going to be okay, and listened to me as I talked about the idea of starting my own business. He saw how excited it made me and he really encouraged me to give it a try. He had said there was no better time than when I was 23 and still had a few years on my parents’ health insurance! And that truly was the push I needed.
Other than that, my extremely supportive entrepreneurship friends have been amazing throughout the years. Having them to bounce ideas off of and encourage me has been amazing.
