We had the good fortune of connecting with Bella Cataldi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bella, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
My business has been built entirely off of my own personal experience healing from Chronic Lyme disease and toxic mold. After healing myself from chronic illness, I knew that my purpose was to share my knowledge and passion for true health and vitality to help others heal. I never had any question or doubt about it. Starting my business was never something I had to think on – rather it was an intuitive urge and desire that I made my reality. When I began building my business, I kept asking myself “what knowledge, tools, things did I wish somebody shared when I was healing from chronic illness?” This question kept me clear on what I wanted to share. It continually brought me back to my “why” behind getting my certification as an integrative health coach and starting my health coaching practice. Everything that I share – from on my Instagram page, weekly blog posts, and on podcasts to through my coaching practice with my clients – comes from my passion for helping people find true health and vitality again. My business is founded on the belief that it is our birthright to feel good. It is possible to heal no matter what you are going through – whether that be chronic illness or emotional hardship – we are meant to feel good in our bodies and minds and we all have the innate ability to reconnect to that place of true vibrancy.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m an integrative and holistic detox health coach and nutritionist. I work with clients dealing with a myriad of health issues – Chronic illness, autoimmune conditions, chronic and acute symptoms such as digestive issues, chronic bloat, gut issues, chronic fatigue, stubborn weight – and clients who are simply looking for support in nutrition, cleansing and detoxification, and adopting new lifestyle habits. What sets me – and my business – apart from others is that I can deeply relate to all my clients. Not only do I have my certification as an integrative health coach, but rather I’ve lived with chronic illness and experienced the debilitation of chronic symptoms. I deeply connect to my clients. Through my practice, I make my clients feel seen and validated. I have created a space where my clients feel safe and are able to build trust with me and faith in their own healing. I believe that my story and journey instills hope in many people who are going through their own health issues, as they are able to see that physical healing is possible.

The road to getting to where I am now – having a health coaching business, working clients, and working on social media – wasn’t easy by any means. It took a lot of courage and risk to get here. I had to first go through the debilitation of my own health struggles and come out the other side. I had to find ways to support myself as I built up my business and work multiple part-time jobs at once. I had to block out all the noise about how my path wasn’t conventional. I had to really truly believe in myself, my visions and my business. However, it was all worth it – I’m now on the path I always envisioned for myself and in deep alignment with myself in my career.

Through the journey of building my business, I learned the importance of trusting myself and my own intuition. When you have a calling, something you go to sleep thinking about and wake up thinking about, an intuitive urge – follow it. We have an intuition for a reason – to guide us toward what is meant for us. We often ignore our intuition, and our greatest desires or passions, because we fear the outcome. We fear the possibility of failure and the uncertainty that taking a leap brings us. My greatest lesson on this journey so far has been to continually connect to my intuition. Do the thing, make the move, take the leap, lean into my fears. I believe that we never “fail” in anything, we’re just always being redirected. Each time I feel resistance toward something in my business, I know it is meant for me. I’ve learned that we feel resistance the most in things that are for us. I’m continually learning to trust in my intuition and move toward my fear and resistance. To do the things that feel hard. We don’t evolve when we’re comfortable. When we’re uncomfortable, that’s where the growth happens.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One thing about me is that there’s truly nothing more that I love than a wellness day, weekend, or week. I love going with friends to my favorite spots for the best food, views, and all the things. That’s one reason why I love living in LA so much – the wellness spots, juice bars, coffee shops, restaurants, farmers markets are truly unmatched. First, we would go to The Pilates Class or Sweat Yoga (two of my favorite workout classes in LA) then we’d go to Erewhon market for green juices, matcha, and the hot bar. We’d drive up PCH to Malibu and go to Sunlife Organics to grab smoothies or açaí bowls that we’d bring to the beach. We would do a beach day in Point Dume and afterward we would pick up Cholada Thai Cuisine (my favorite Thai in all of LA) for their green vegetable curry. We’d head to my favorite wellness oasis for treatments, Den Mother Wellness on Abbot Kinney. We would do a sauna and cold plunge and then get garden massages. We’d then walk over to Gjelina (one of my favorite restaurants also on Abbot Kinney) and we would get the eggplant with tahini, Japanese sweet potato, shishito peppers, grilled oyster mushrooms, and mixed market greens – their veggies are all incredible!!!. I’d also make sure we went to the Santa Monica Proper for a mocktail, Inn of the Seventh Ray in Topanga for dinner, hot pilates for another good workout, and the Brentwood farmer’s market on Sunday.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I think above all, my personal support system and circle of people in my life have been the best form of encouragement as I’ve built-up my business and followed my career dreams. My mom and dad – who both supported me through the darkness of my chronic illness and encouraged me to take the not so conventional route in my career, go to nutrition school, and start my business straight out of college with zero experience building a business or doing anything of the sort. – I’m so eternally grateful for. My siblings and friends (you know who you are) have also supported me through the hard times when I was sick and have cheered me on as I’ve built my business over the last few years. Without my inner circle’s support, I would have followed what everything else around me was doing and not chased what I truly believed and knew was my calling.

I also read many books while I was struggling with Chronic Lyme disease – two of which really changed my life: “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolls and “You Can Change Your Life” by Louise Hay. Both of these books (and authors) really woke me up to myself and helped me move from a place of being a victim to my health circumstances to taking control of my life again – whether I was sick or healthy. After reading these books, I began to explore various spiritual practices and adopted a religious meditation practice. I found Dr Joe Dispenza and his meditations truly changed my life, as well. I’ve been doing his morning and evening meditations every day for four years now and they’ve not only helped rewire my brain but they’ve also deeply healed and regenerated my body. When we believe we can heal, we do. Teaches like Eckhart Tolle, Louise Hay, and Joe Dispenza have all been mentors to me on my journey and I’m so grateful for their work. Their work always brings me back to myself, my intuition, and to the act of surrendering to where I’m at.
