Meet Bellarose Blü | Lady Blü | Singer & Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bellarose Blü and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bellarose, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
The sound, body, and energy of music and making music make me incredibly happy in a way that I remember being when I was a child! I hear, see, and feel the music in everything! It sometimes feels like the one true thing I’ve come to understand about the kooky side of the universe called earth! I quite literally think to myself how grateful I am to have music to help me to find the words to express life around me!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My music is life expressed sonically. It takes the messiness and unconventional sounds and makes it beautiful. Just like life can sometimes be spontaneous and a roller coaster of experiences but in the end, you’re grateful for what comes out, the symphony of sounds and voices that tell a bigger story.
It makes me proud to be one of the few nonbinary, black artists, representing rock and pop in a way that hasn’t been seen in a long time if ever. I am most excited to show the world it’s OK to be weird and exude those oddities, on a grand scale instead of shying away from them because it’s typically not the most favored or ingestible for those that are turned off by a little strange fruit.
Funny enough, my journey didn’t start in California. I got my start speaking in front of some pretty powerful people in Miami Florida who made positive change for youth who were in the care system and before I went on my long diatribe about how they could help I sang a song “change is gonna come by Sam Cooke” and somebody was in the room who saw more than just a victim. They saw a talented individual and one person opened up the door for me to sing all over the city of Miami . I performed opera on stage at the Adrienne Arsht Center, sang the national anthem at the Miami Marlins game , I sang under Eduardo Maturét conductor of the Miami Symphony at the Miso Fashion event and again at the Be A Voice gala event sponsored by PRADA. I was a special guest performer at the Selfless Love Foundation Gala which was put on by Ashley and Ed Brown Former CEO of Patròn tequila, where I was personally thanked by John Paul Dejoria for my performance.I perform many cover songs on my social media and have released 2 singles since ( Sweet Anxiety & Do I ) available now on all streaming platforms!
It was far from easy as many times I was met with the word No. I was out there singing everywhere I could to anyone that would listen. I would find myself in situations where empty promises were made regarding my career but It was up to me at the end of the day to make it happen! No one saw the image of a star when they saw me.In all honesty, overcoming that challenge was easy, I can’t blame someone who isn’t able to see value when it’s staring them in the face. That’s a skill.
The biggest thing to overcome truly was myself. I needed to let go and remember that I am not surviving life anymore. I am living life to the fullest! Stay present and focus on myself in a way that brings not only healing in my life but true joy. That’s how I am able to pursue a career as a singer-songwriter.
If I learned anything along this journey is that success is just one avenue in life it isn’t everything. Being able to truly honor the value in the smile on your face and others that bring joy into your life, will make you feel alive, even if it’s just something as simple as walking down the street. Those are the moments that make life beautiful. Music has helped me to tap into the best parts of myself. So value the life you’re living beyond the success that you can garner and live filled with love , laughter and wonderful memories and all the messiness that goes along with a life, a story, a song.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Le pain quotidien for breakfast cute mini pancakes and the best lemon ginger tea, Deluca’s for lunch
Heart of WeHo so we can watch the best drag shows no matter what we do. It will be the best time because I keep good company! I’m new to LA so we’ll both be experiencing it for the first time.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
It truly takes a village! I’m grateful to say there are so many people I can thank. I would not be the strange and bold blue being today if it weren’t for all of the wonderful individuals who paid it forward to me to name a few my mentors Nelson Hincapie, Louise McAlpin, and Judge Sandy Karlan yet I truly would like to shout out to the moon my Parents. I love my mom and dad so much they have truly been there with me since adopting me and never let go! They always say my coming into their lives was Bashert, which means destined to be in Hebrew . I wouldn’t be where I am if it weren’t for them.
