We had the good fortune of connecting with Bethany Ellis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bethany, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I believe that individuality and authenticity is the most important factor. Staying true to myself, what I believe in and what I want for myself and my clients. Being my genuine self and not looking at how others run their business as a blue print.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a hairstylist who specializes in curly hair. I think what sets me apart from others is my passion for helping others understand their hair and learn to embrace their crown. I wouldn’t say it’s been easy or hard to get to where I am but it’s definitely been worth it! There’s been good days and bad days but what I’ve learned a long the way is that people really appreciate transparency and realness from their service provider. I want the world to know I love what I do more than anything in this world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Definitely have to check out broadway and eat at Buds N Brews. Swing by Willie B’s, Minerva and Vibes for some hookah and drinks.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout Maggie Stallins. She took me under her wing & allowed me to work as a receptionist at her salon while I was in cosmetology school. She showed me the ins and outs of doing hair from the coloring side to the business side.
