We had the good fortune of connecting with Bethany Nicole and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bethany, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Being authentic is the underlying principle behind my life, my business, and my writing. I strive to ensure everything I do, say, and write aligns perfectly with who I am and what I believe. I have spent many years of my life denying my basic principles and instincts, conforming to others’ opinions, or pushing down my own thoughts and feelings. So when I began my writing career and my work, I wanted to change all of that. I always endeavor to put forth my true opinions and genuine thoughts, whether they conform with the norm or not, and whether they are the most palatable or not. I believe our genuineness is what connects us. We don’t need any more surface-level interactions or picture-perfect images in our lives. We need deep and meaningful connections, built on honesty and loyalty to our own truest version of self. I am authentic in what I say, my brand is authentic in what it stands for and my business is authentic in what it does. And in this, I trust, that all good will come from it. Because truly, what else can we do in this world besides follow our own inner compass and allow our intuition to be our North Star?
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an author, freelance writer, and relationship expert. I am the founder and author of the book and brand, Apologies I Never Got LLC and the creator of the Written In The Stars Relationship Sessions.
My breakout book, Apologies I Never Got, is about dating and relationship horror stories, phrased as apologies you never got from the people who never gave them to you. So often in life, we never get the apologies we deserve, but that’s alright because we can write them ourselves! Ultimately healing is an inside job, and the only person with the right qualifications for that job is us. We can write our own apologies, heal, and ultimately move on with forgiveness in our lives. No lame apology from an even lamer ex required.
In my Written In The Stars Relationship Sessions, I help individuals and couples utilize my 3 Step Apology Writing Process, to help release past resentments and relationships and begin creating strong foundations for their current or future partnerships. I use multiple tools including Astrology, Tarot, Love Languages, Attachment Theory, and much more to help individuals and couples begin creating the love life they desire.
My writing and these sessions are my magnum opus. It is the collection of my life’s work, studies, and pursuits combined into collaborative works. I come to these works from places of deep understanding and compassion…because I’ve lived them myself. My backstory is intense(to say the least), and my past is littered with apologies I never received. And for many years, I allowed those unspoken apologies to hold me back in both life and love. Then I saw the light. Not only was I probably never going to get those apologies, I actually never needed them in the first place! Through my own intuitive insights, life lessons, and a background working in social services, I was able to combine all my skills and experience into my writing and my work. And that is what you see with Apologies I Never Got and Written In The Stars. My heart, my life, and my love are all put into one brand and one business.
My hope for my work is that it serves the world well. And that by being in my own integrity and authenticity, I will be able to shine a light on the aspects of ourselves and our society that need the most love and attention. The broken places that we try so hard to hide, but are actually so much a part of what connects us and makes us human. So here is my work, and here is my heart and I am hopeful that it serves you well, dear reader.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have to say Santa Monica up through Malibu is my favorite area of Los Angeles. Blue Plate Oysterette is my go-to brunch spot, and I usually follow it with a walk up and down the beach. Or I just take a drive up the PCH and find a deserted Malibu beach to be a moody writer and contemplate my inner thoughts.
Aside from that, the places that reflect the old Hollywood vibe are definitely among my top favorites. Dinner at the Line Hotel at their Open Aire restaurant or a trip through their lobby makes me feel inspired by the inner workings of Los Angeles.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The Den Meditation. I would not be where I am or who I am without them. The connections I have made both to myself and others through the studio have allowed me to rediscover long-lost aspects of myself buried deep beneath wounds. I remembered how to let my spirit and my intuition lead the way and through that have connected deeply with all my greatest passions. I found healing and peace through meditation and was able to learn how to work with all aspects of myself, both those that served me and most especially those that did not, and through that, I found radical acceptance. I found my truest calling and my most authentic self. It is with the deepest gratitude, respect, and love that I acknowledge the studio and all of the connections I have made through it.
