We had the good fortune of connecting with Betina McCadney and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Betina, how does your business help the community or the world?
Umbrella Financial, Inc. helps the community by helping families and individuals improve their financial positioning through financial coaching, credit repair, business credit, executive coaching, budgeting, saving and financial forecasting. Many of us don’t know what we don’t know about finances and the power of a good name. Here at Umbrella Financial, we use finance to put you on your path to purpose. Our belief is that everyone of us was born with the seed of purpose. This purpose, gifting, oil on your life (whatever you choose to call it) is supposed to provide perpetual provision for you. Unfortunately, many times before we even identify our purpose in order to operate in it, we’re already bogged down with debt or some other form of financial oppression. This change in path creates a mental fog of worry, frustration and stress that prevents us from doing our purpose work. This cycle continues usually because we were never given the tools during our maturation stages for how to successfully manage our finances. What we do, is guide you out of financial bondage with practical solutions. We take that even further, by coaching you to success; helping you let go of the money beliefs that no longer serve you and replacing them with healthy beliefs, tools and practices that support, help you maintain and ultimately build on your new financial standing. In this clearing, you’re able to receive the divine downloads that guide you to purpose. Now you’re not just surviving, you’re thriving and your life’s work is improving the lives of someone, somewhere in your immediate community or in another part of the world. Freedom from financial oppression is water to the soil of creativity. When your personal fog is eliminated, you can clearly see your path. In service to someone else, your purpose will always provide provision for you.

Please tell us more about your business. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today business-wise. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I had two accidents, totaling two cars, two years in a row in this same body. After the first accident I still went to work in pain because that was all I knew. After the second accident, I HAD to take time off to heal. During that time in my former career as a dental technician, many of my dentist-clients urged me to start my own business. Because in my absence they could not get anyone to deliver for them what I did. Before that, I had no plans of entrepreneurship. I never even saw myself as a creative. Eventually I took their advice, and started Natural Beauty Dental Studio, using my personal savings and credit. Because I did not truly understand the business side of business, it fizzled out quickly. I was devastated and depressed. I could not find a job even with friends in my industry who KNEW the value I could bring their organization. I went on a journey to learn what I could have done differently. It was after hours of study and research, I learned about accessing working capital, the difference between business credit and personal credit. I then made the decision that never again would a business owner have to close their doors because they did not have access to funding to continue operations to get them to the point of profitability. This is when Umbrella Financial was born. What sets us apart from others in our industry is our passion for the financial success of people in under-served communities; it’s our commitment to supporting them as an individual or as a business owner; it’s our belief in their purpose and abundance being their birthright; its in our ability to deliver on the practical side like credit repair or business credit AND on the psychological side with financial coaching. We are different. This journey has not been easy. Like many other business owners, Umbrella Financial was forged with blood, sweat and buckets of tears. But I wouldn’t change it for the world!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my good friends comes here from NC twice a year and we have the best day trips through Los Angeles. We start the day with a hike on one of our favorite trails in Palos Verdes, Griffith Park or Baldwin hills. Then head to breakfast at either 26 Beach in Venice or the Overland Cafe. We would then do some shopping on Rodeo Drive or hang out at the South Coast plaza for some retail therapy where we can also catch lunch at the Capital Grille. When we want to just relax we make sure to take a drive up Pacific Coast Highway or head to San Diego for relaxing scenery. We’ve done everything from visiting actual farms to wine tasting in Santa Barbara. We do it all. Indoor or outdoor, we’re here for it. I love all that Los Angeles has to offer and when my friends come from afar, I make sure to take time with them to see the sights, taste the tastes and smell the smells. It’s amazing because I get to enjoy my city through their experiences.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have an amazing tribe of people around me. From my accountability group and my coaches, to my employees, friends and family. I am blessed. I tap into my tribe regularly to help me get beyond my personal limitations to where I’m supposed to be. This company and the lives changed through it are not the work of one, but all those that hold me up, push, support, encourage and pray for and with me. I am so grateful for them that are in my life personally and those I don’t know that have put their lives, revelations and breakthroughs in books that we can learn from and help us continue on our personal paths.
