We had the good fortune of connecting with BG & Kris Greer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi BG & Kris, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
BG: Well, you know, the idea for the ChopShop podcast actually came from a casual conversation Kris and I were having. I told him, “Aye, we have some serious conversations people don’t talk about on a regular basis. Why not record those conversations?” It was one of those lightbulb moments where we realized, “Why not share our discussions with others?”

Kris Greer: Absolutely! We’ve always had these dynamic, diverse conversations covering a wide range of topics. So, we thought, why not turn that into a podcast? Now, as for the name, coming up with ‘ChopShop’ was a collaborative effort. We wanted a name that reflected the essence of our show – cutting through various subjects, chopping it up in a conversational way. It just clicked.

BG: Right! We wanted it to feel like you’re hanging out with us, join in and express your opinions in a relaxed environment. Once we had the name, we started planning the concept. What topics would we cover? How could we make it engaging for our listeners? We pooled our ideas, hashed out the details, and that’s how the ChopShop podcast was born.

Kris Greer: It’s been a journey from that initial spark of an idea to planning the show’s structure and content. And here we are, enjoying every moment of the conversations we get to share with our audience.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
BG: Getting to where we are today professionally has been a journey, and I wouldn’t say it was an easy start. Kris has a background in audio engineering, which helped, but when it came to putting together a podcast, neither of us had a clue. It’s been a lot of trial and error.

Kris Greer: Absolutely. We dove into this podcasting world without a roadmap. We faced technical challenges, and it wasn’t always smooth sailing. But you know what’s been amazing? Our listeners. They’ve been patient with us, stuck by our side, and grown with us throughout this process.

BG: The lessons we’ve learned along the way are invaluable. We’ve learned to roll with the punches. Nothing is perfect, and that’s okay. The real magic happens in our conversations and interactions with our listeners in real time. It’s genuine, unfiltered, and that’s what matters most to us.

Kris Greer: What we want the world to know about us and the ChopShop brand is that this is just the beginning. We’re not stopping here. We plan on rolling out more content, expanding our platform to promote open, non-bias discussions on our own ChopShop network.

BG: It’s all about fostering meaningful conversations, and we’re excited for what the future holds for us and our listeners. This is just the start of something bigger.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
BG: If you’re joining us for a week-long trip, get ready for good vibes! Our best times have always been with family, and we absolutely love camping. We’ve explored various spots all over California, and it’s always a mix of good food and good times.

Kris Greer: Absolutely, and when it comes to camping, the more, the merrier. Every year, our camping trips grow in size as we add more family and friends into the mix. It’s a tradition that’s all about togetherness.

BG: So, the itinerary would kick off with a scenic camping spot, maybe near a serene lake. Picture waking up to the sounds of nature. For breakfast, pancakes, we’d keep it simple yet delicious – a classic camping meal.

Kris Greer: Then, we’d spend the days exploring. Whether it’s boating, fishing, or just lounging by the campfire, it’s all about making memories together.

BG: For dinner, maybe a BBQ feast that everyone helps coordinate in some way.

Kris Greer: And let’s not forget the nights filled with storytelling, laughter, and some epic movie quotes. It’s those moments where you really connect.

BG: So, in our view, the most fun, interesting, and exciting things are the simple joys of being together with loved ones, surrounded by the beauty of nature. That’s where the best times happen for us.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
BG: Absolutely, when it comes to giving credit and recognition, our family plays a significant role. I’d like to dedicate a shoutout to our extended family for being the inspiration behind the ChopShop podcast.

Kris Greer: It’s true. Our family dynamic is unique, and it’s something we draw from for the podcast. BG and I, despite the aunt-nephew relation, are only six months apart in age. It’s more like having a sibling bond than a traditional aunt-nephew dynamic.

BG: Yeah, growing up, we’ve been through a lot together, as a family. And that bond, that shared history, is a big part of what makes our conversations on ChopShop so authentic. We’ve always had this open line of communication within our family.

Kris Greer: It’s a value we want to extend to our listeners. In a world where communication often falls short, especially on important topics, we hope the ChopShop podcast can inspire more open dialogue. It’s not just about us sharing our thoughts but encouraging others to have real, meaningful conversations with the people around them.

BG: So, shoutout to our family for being the foundation of this podcast and for showing us the power of honest, open communication.
