We had the good fortune of connecting with Bibi Goldstein and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bibi, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I used to be very afraid of taking risks, I took on a business partner in the beginning because I was afraid of taking on the risk of failing all on my own.

Since 2011 I really changed my perception of what is risky and how I weigh the affect of that risk on my overall mental well being. If taking something on is going to create long term anxiety for me, I’ll likely not take it on. I’m ok with saying no to something as long as I know the reasons why.

With that said, I do see myself as more of risk taker in business and life in general then most people I know. I have failed at a great many things because I would rather live with the consequences of failing then regretting not having at least tried.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Buying Time, LLC is a virtual support solution for small businesses and entrepreneurs who need help with administrative, marketing and financial support, this could be managing someone’s email inbox to social media posting to bookkeeping. We pride ourselves on working as a team so that when a client needs support someone is always available, with us a client doesn’t worry about their assistant being sick or on vacation.

The business started in 2007 and has evolved from a personal assistant service to the virtual solution it is today. I was grateful that I was ok letting go of services when the time was right and embracing services that were changing the landscape of the digital world in areas like email marketing.

Building a business takes courage to make mistakes and I made tons of them, I will say that I would have made many more if I hadn’t learned early on the power of having a mentor and guide. I have had the same business coach for over 12 years and without her I absolutely know that we wouldn’t have had the growth that we see year over year.

As an organization the empowerment of women has always been prevalent in the clients we support to the team we have, which is all women currently. We wanted to provide an opportunity for women to feel comfortable asking for help to grow their businesses and create the life they envisioned. Our team are women looking for the opportunity to put their skills to use, provide for their families without having to leave their families daily.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being from the South Bay “bubble” of LA I would definitely start with some places I think are pretty amazing.

We’d have to get to all of our local piers – Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach and Hermosa Beach.
Restaurants we love – Rajin Cajun, Dominique’s, Tin Roof Bistro, Mexican Riviera, Palmilla, Tower 12
Hang out places – Naja’s on the pier, Crow’s Nest at Tony’s, R10 Social House, Shellbacks, Hennessey’s, Hermosa Beach Comedy and Magic Club, Saint Rocke

I would definitely take them to the San Pedro waterfront and for hikes up in Palos Verdes.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There’s so many people! My tribe is my foundation, from my husband, Mark and daughter Julie who have supported every idea, to my business coach, Joy who helped me make those ideas come to life. My amazing team at Buying Time, LLC and girlfriends Linda, Cathy and Mickey who cried, cussed and “wined” with me every time I needed it.
