Meet Bingo Richey: Co-founder Rancho de la Luna Mezcal

We had the good fortune of connecting with bingo richey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bingo, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Bingo Richey : Who takes the risk, gets the reward. Calculated risk is necessary in order to achieve goals. If you don’t believe in what you’re doing, how can you expect to convince anyone else that the endeavor is worthwhile?
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Bingo Richey and David Catching : In addition to having founded Rancho de La Luna Spirits, we also have our media company, Rancho de la Luna Records. We have several bands that we founded, among them : mojave lords, earthlings? and continue to create music and visual art. we also have a few artists that we collaborate with regularly. Our work at the recording studio allows us to learn new ways of approaching music, songwriting, production on a continual basis. we have also created the sweet relief music hour , a live performance and interview show to contribute to our friends at sweet relief musicians fund, who provide financial assistance to all types of career musicians and music industry workers who are struggling to make ends meet while facing illness, disability, or other problems. life is a series of fun adventures as well as incredible hardships to navigate while trying to help others and yourself in the greatest ways possible. sharing love and happiness is the best one can hope for
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
David Catching : in joshua tree i would take them to country kitchen for a hearty, delicious breakfast, then take a long drive and hike in joshua tree national park. for lunch a nice stop at sam’s indian food and grab refreshments, including rancho de la luna mezcal at sam’s market. for the best bbq around and a night of entertainment, it would definitely be pappy and harriets pioneertown palace. one of the best music venues anywhere on earth. the owners robyn and linda are some of the coolest people out here and dearest friends. while in pioneertown, a walk down mane street for a drink at red dog saloon, then back to pappy and harriets for music and dancing. the next morning i’d cook breakfast, and enjoy a nice relaxing morning, go to the sky valley swap meet, and at night i would take them to one of the greatest restaurants, la copine. the owners and staff are the coolest and the food is on par with, or better than any restaurant anywhere in the world. afterwards we’d catch a performance at furstworld where i’d introduce them to the legend , bobby furst. the following day ,a little shopping on the joshua tree strip starting at the station, coyote corner, joshua tree art and music, sun alley shops, joshua tree blanket co., space cowboy books, the original cool joshua tree shop, shari elf’s art queen, and visit the joshua tree thrift stores and outdoor market. at night, a trip to smiths ranch drive in, in 29 palms for a great double feature. the next day a stop at roadrunner grab n go to pack a lunch for further adventures in joshua tree park, camping out there to witness the beauty and quiet . another day would be to stop at larry and milts western cafe, or the dez for breakfast, and a stop in the bottle shop, then head into yucca valley to shop at all the great stores there, including black luck vintage, mojave flea, mojave desert skin shield, the end, voodoo records, hoof n horn. a quick stop by desierto alto to get some more rancho de la luna mezcal and delicious treats to take home, relax and play some records and converse. the next day would be a start at natural sisters cafe for a healthy breakfast, stopping at boo’s organic oven and joshua tree health food to grab some takeaway for a day trip to salvation mountain and the salton sea. the following morning breakfast at the crossroads and a trip to noah purifoy’s art garden and a visit to the palms in wonder valley for a drink and dancing. stopping by the 29 palms inn afterwards for a fine dinner. the next morning i’d cook breakfast, lounge around enjoying the quiet and a lunch at royal siam thai or yucca kabob and hookah lounge. then it would be time to go to the palm springs airport to get our friends on their flight home.
