Meet Brandon Richland | Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Richland and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandon, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Absolutely! My journey into entrepreneurship was fueled by a deep-seated passion for medicine and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care. Throughout my training, I recognized a troubling dichotomy: the business aspects of medicine often seemed at odds with the core mission of patient care. I firmly believe that these two elements can coexist harmoniously.

When I envisioned starting my own practice Richland MD and Richland Aesthetics, I was determined to create a model that prioritizes patient well-being while also embracing the business side of healthcare. My goal with our expansion is to ensure that every new location maintains the luxurious, boutique med spa experience that our patients have come to love, all while delivering outstanding results.

This journey has not only allowed me to build and scale a meaningful enterprise but has also been a profound source of personal growth. The autonomy that comes with owning my own business is incredibly rewarding, and while the hours can be long, I make it a priority to balance my professional commitments with quality time spent with my family—my wife and young son are my greatest treasures.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I take immense pride in my journey as a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, a title that represents over 26 years of rigorous education and training. It’s been a challenging path, but the fulfillment I derive from my work makes every sacrifice worthwhile. I often reflect on the saying, “You can’t move a mountain in a day, but you can pick up a shovel and move a little bit of dirt each time.” This philosophy has guided me through the ups and downs of my career, reminding me that progress is a series of small, consistent efforts.

I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and experiences with our community, as I believe that education and awareness are key to empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their health and well-being. I look forward to engaging with everyone and contributing to a culture of support and growth.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a friend were visiting, I would definitely take them on an adventure that reflects my love for the outdoors! Scuba diving and skiing are two of my greatest passions, and I would make sure they experience both. I’ve had the pleasure of diving in some of the most beautiful locations around the world, including the Caribbean, Asia, and Indonesia, and I love sharing that joy with others. Some great local dive spots are Catalina Island and Shaw’s Cove.

For skiing, I would take them to some of the stunning local slopes such as Tahoe or Big Bear where we could enjoy the thrill of the mountains together. If they were feeling more adventurous and up for an international trip, I would recommend the Swiss Alps or Hokkaido in northern Japan. It’s always rewarding to introduce friends to new experiences, and I take pride in having convinced many of them to become certified divers and skiers. There’s something truly special about exploring the underwater world and the camaraderie that comes with it.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to take a moment to acknowledge my father. He has been a guiding light in my life, dedicating himself to ensuring that my path was filled with opportunities for growth and success. His unwavering support and sacrifices have shaped who I am today, both personally and professionally. I owe much of my drive and determination to his influence, and I am forever grateful for the foundation he has provided me.
