Meet Brandon Sax B” Monford | Professional Saxophonist”

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon “Sax B” Monford and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandon “Sax B”, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Putting God first has been the most important factor behind my success. Without Him and me making the choice to step out on faith, none of this would be possible.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I like to think my sound and story sets me apart from others. I know that I’m playing with a purpose because of situations that have brought me here. My left lung fully collapsed in 2016, and my doctor told me that it was because of me playing the saxophone that my right lung was able to sustain my breathing long enough for my left lung to fully heal. This plays a huge part in my sound because every note I play is literally a sound of gratitude- knowing that this instrument is what saved my life. From there, I decided to take playing more seriously. In 2019, I recorded my first EP, entitled, “Senseless Love Ballad.” This led to even more opportunities, including touring across the country with the 85 South Show and opening up at the Toledo Funny Bone for world-renown comedians such as D. L. Hughley, Bruce Bruce, and Guy Tory. Three years later, I have been able to continually perfect my craft, expand my fan base, and successfully sell out my own five city tour.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My idea of a good time is just being able to spend time with the ones I love in places we can have great conversation, fellowship, and food. With Lima being such a small town, and my friends being close like family, I’d take them to my parents’ house for a great home cooked meal.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There’s a lot of people I could give recognition to for helping me on this journey… God being first, I would also give thanks to my lovely wife. who is the backbone of Sax B and helps push me to be the best version of myself; my immediate family, who I’m super close with and whose support means the world to me; and my hometown of Lima, Ohio because they’ve always supported my dreams of spreading love to the world through the sax.
