Meet Breana Wiggins | Clothing Brand Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Breana Wiggins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Breana, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my own business, Nature Head Project, was deeply rooted in my personal journey and experiences. Growing up in the inner city, I wasn’t really exposed to the beauty of the outdoors until I went on my first hike at 24. That hike completely changed my perspective and made me realize there’s so much more to the world.
Relocating to California in 2019 further solidified my love for the outdoors, inspiring me to create a brand that could bridge the gap between urban communities and nature. I wanted to dismantle the misconception that certain communities are disconnected from the outdoors, and show that spending time outside can bring so much peace and joy.
For me, nature has always been like a retreat, a form of meditation that grounds me and helps me find calm amidst the chaos of life. It’s something I wanted to share with others, especially in our fast-paced world where slowing down is often overlooked.
Additionally, my passion for working with children, fostered through my volunteer work at the YMCA, motivated me to organize monthly events aimed at providing underserved youth with access to outdoor experiences. Recognizing the challenges faced by those in lower-income neighborhoods, I aspired to create opportunities for them to explore nature, fostering a deeper connection and understanding of the environment.
In essence, my business was born from a desire to cultivate a love for nature, promote inclusivity in outdoor activities, and provide underprivileged youth with the same enriching experiences that have shaped my perspective on life.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Nature Head Project isn’t just about the clothing; it’s about my journey and my love for nature. What truly sets us apart is me – my story. We’re promoting a lifestyle that embraces nature and inclusivity, and we are community-driven.
What really makes me proud is the fact that I took the risk to start, despite all the risks and unknowns. It was a scary move, but deep down, I just knew I had to do it. And let me tell you, the journey has not been easy. There were times when everything seemed to be against me, but I just kept going.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned on this journey is that adaptability is key. You’ve got to be quick on your feet and always ready to evolve if you want your business to thrive. It’s all about staying one step ahead, being open to change, and never settling for anything less than the best.
But it’s not just about the business; it’s about personal growth too. I’ve come to understand that every day is a chance to become a better version of myself. It’s about constantly learning, improving, and honing my skills, not just as an entrepreneur but as a human being. And that’s the mindset that keeps my business moving forward.
My brand’s story is all about resilience and the power of community. It’s a reminder that nature is for everyone, regardless of their background. I want the world to see that Nature Head Project is more than just a clothing brand; it’s a symbol of unity, diversity, and the transformative power of nature.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d start off with a morning hike at Runyon Canyon because I love to hike, soaking in those breathtaking views of the city and the Hollywood Sign, such a touristy thing to do but you have to do it at least once.
We would probably hit up a rooftop for brunch and then head to the beach, Santa Monica, walk along the boardwalk, maybe catch a sunset!
We’d also take a trip to Griffith Observatory, gazing at the stars and the panoramic view of the city. Afterwards, have a fancy dinner. LA is all about the beaches, the hikes, the good food, and the endless adventures.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In my journey, I owe a huge shoutout to my mom. She’s been my biggest supporter throughout this whole journey, always there with a listening ear and words of encouragement. Her support has meant everything, especially during the tough early days of getting my clothing brand off the ground.
I can’t thank her enough for believing in me and my vision. Her wisdom and constant belief in what I’m doing have given me the strength to tackle any challenges that come my way.
But it’s not just about business with her. She’s taught me the importance of giving back and being there for others. Her selflessness and guidance have shaped not just my work but also my values. Without her love and backing, I wouldn’t be where I am today. She truly deserves all the credit and recognition in my story.
