Meet Brent Huff | Actor/Writer/Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brent Huff and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brent, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Setting concrete goals and then following through is paramount to success in any field. I have always been a finisher and have persevered in the face of setbacks, and there have been many. Accomplishing your goals, no matter how small, gives you self esteem. Take action then follow through until completion. You can develop good habits as easy as bad habits. If you commit to good habits your life will be vastly different in five years then if you continue the same bad habits. Success leaves clues.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am so blessed to have found my calling very early in life. I grew up in small town in Missouri but I always knew I was going to either move to New York or Los Angeles after college to become an actor. I moved to Los Angeles after leaving the University of Missouri with about six hundred dollars in my pocket. My car broke down soon after my arrival and I couldn’t afford to fix it. I took three buses from Santa Monica to downtown to work the graveyard shift at Foremost Dairy. Yes, there was a dairy in downtown Los Angles. Two days a week I would take buses to Warner Bros in Burbank after work to study acting with little or no sleep. I talked the teacher into letting me clean up before and after class as well as make coffee to get free classes. It’s not been an easy path but one I am proud of.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I recently went with two of my friends from Missouri to The Hollywood Bowl for a concert. The Bowl never disappoints. I love bringing people to The Hollywood Cemetery to watch movies as well.. Cinespia does a great job. I love CicLAvia for bike rides with a few thousand of my friends through the streets of Los Angeles. You can’t go wrong with a Runyon Canyon hike and a nighttime drive on Mulholland Highway. Other favs include: The Magic Castle, Venice Beach, DTLA, The Griffith Observatory, The Improv and The Getty Museum. I haven’t been to Sofi, but it’s on my list.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are too many people who have helped me along my journey to mention. I am very thankful for all my teachers and coaches in both sports and the arts. I grew up with noble parents who led by example. I have leaned on my wife, Shawn Huff, for the past 30 years. She has been my sounding board and biggest cheerleader. It’s not easy to be married to someone who wants to carve out a career in the arts. The first thing you give up following a dream like this is financial security. It’s not for the faint of heart.
