We had the good fortune of connecting with Brett Browning and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brett, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success as an artist is my ability to adapt to change. With the music industry being so competitive there are constantly people that are pushing boundaries and changing ideas with how we create, listen, and enjoy the art. I think any form of success is brought on by pushing your art beyond its boundaries. The only way to stay relevant in any part of the industry is to know what your audience wants and stay fresh with the content that you provide as an artist.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been fortunate enough to have success in both acting and music. I began my acting career at the age of seven and have been able to continue my work with it even now sixteen years later. In the very early stages of my acting career I had to learn the competitive nature of the industry and how developing yourself is essential to attaining any form of success. There were times that I had seen rejection, adversity, and multiple challenges which at the time were discouraging, but now I have come to appreciate those things and how they’ve molded and motivated me. Taking these lessons I had learned from my acting career I now have the ability to explore my talents in music. With how tough and competitive the industry is I have found an attachment with the challenges it brings. I like to embrace the difficult parts of the work because I know it is what will ultimately lead me to success and growth with my craft.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have a lot of places in the city that I love to visit, but I think the what makes Los Angeles such a unique place is the art that is created here. The Downtown Arts District is a great place for creatives of all types to receive inspiration and to connect with likeminded artists. From the interesting murals to the vast availability of creative spaces this is a place that you can easily find yourself lost in.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe a lot of my successes in life to my father, Charles. Growing up he had always taught me the importance of being well-rounded and versatile with every new challenge or project I would take on. Whether it be acting, music, dancing, or writing, my father would always encourage me to embrace my talents and work hard to develop them. Using that encouragement and motivation I have had the opportunity to explore multiple pathways within the art and entertainment world, and for that I am very thankful.
