Meet BRIAN HAIRSTON | TRUCKING COMPANY OWNER

We had the good fortune of connecting with BRIAN HAIRSTON and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi BRIAN, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process, I went starting my own trucking company, was simply if I you can get up early in the morning and do it for someone else and stay long hours to create and help mold a successful company for someone else, then surely I can do the same for myself and my family.
In doing so I evaluated a number of thing.
I considered my own experiences, skills, and interests to find a niche in the trucking industry where I could offer a unique solution to drivers needs and wants as well as serve the vendors my company delivered to and transported their products.
My access to the financial feasibility of the transportation business idea, including startup costs, potential revenue, and profitability.
Created a comprehensive business plan that was new hire friendly and easy for them to navigate with a medium skill set when on boarded as heavy truck drivers.
Secure funding through savings, loans, or investors. As well as looking into Federal and State funding set asides for new truck carrier owners from California emissions loans for new truck financing.
By crrsting a business name and obtaining necessary licenses and permits for the state and federal regulations as well as port train and shipping entry approval by Homeland Security.
Build a strong brand based on employees and their feedback with vendors and other trucking companies.
Focused on scalability to ensure long-term growth. Where I wrote a best selling book on. “How to Start Your Own Trucking Company, and Build it Into a Fleet!” Nice and slow and steady.
Cultivating a positive and resilient mindset for all employees by seeking out a diversified workforce of female and male drivers of all colors and denomination.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Becoming an owner if a business is a huge responsibility. First by sending out job openings to the world. For anyone to answer. Once these job openings are filled you realize that the people who came to you are real. They are not tangible items but flesh and bone, they have feelings and wants and needs and are also striving to move forward and not stay stagnant. As they come with mouths to feed and shelter they are often burdened to provide for their families.
I make it clear that they are being trained and are in a work environment to move up and out to start their own trucking company right alongside mine. They are all brought on as BP’s business partners. Not drivers. We show and teach them the back office, billing and booking the loads. We show them how much the FIRST check is and how much they get if they stay at their current level. I even drive a truck with them as often as I can. I have an open door policy and help direct anyone to becoming their own boss as well.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
