We had the good fortune of connecting with Bridger & Carson Hart and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bridger & Carson, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
That there is still room for innovation in ecommerce! Take color filtering for example. A conventional color filter makes you select a word representing a common color name such as green, yellow, blue, etc. But just because it’s been the same for 20 years doesn’t mean it’s the best possible solution. We rethought the experience by using a color wheel instead of listing names to surface products. By giving the user the ability to search for any specific color, we can surface more accurate matches in an intuitive way. This kind of personalization could never be possible with a fixed list of words.

What should our readers know about your business?
Our company is called Hoppn and we develop innovative solutions for ecommerce. As more and more brands move their products online, customers have near-infinite options to choose from. A site with thousands of products can often feel overwhelming, so naturally, you narrow the search by filtering price, style, size, and color. After years of working in ecommerce, and having a background in film and photography, we began to notice a trend of inaccuracy within color filtering. The current standard is to filter by vague terms such as blue, green, or yellow, but this method often ignores the nuanced shades in between.

We’ve pioneered an intuitive solution that directly solves this problem. Named the Infinite Color Search, you simply select any color within the wheel, adjust the lightness if desired, and we’ll show you the exact match you’re looking for. Over the next year, we’ll be making this tech accessible to other platforms. Our software handles all aspects of the color search experience, from AI color extraction to the multi-color search algorithm.

This solution didn’t come overnight, however. It took years of developing the Hoppn marketplace to understand the true potential our color tech has for ecommerce. Although we’ve shifted our focus toward the Infinite Color Search, the Hoppn marketplace will continue to thrive as a valuable showroom for new technologies, while continually highlighting the unique products of our partners. It was a difficult decision to change our focus, but we couldn’t be more excited about this new direction as we kickstart 2024.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
LA has tons to offer, but nothing tops a good ole’ bike ride along the South Bay strand! You avoid LA traffic, and it’s perfect for cruising and conversating with friends. Plus it’s the ideal balance of a scenic ocean view, casual exercise, and great local spots along the way. We’d recommend starting in Manhattan Beach, taking a pit stop at Spyder Surf on the Hermosa Beach Pier Plaza, and proceeding south for a Mai Tai at Tony’s on the Redondo pier. If you’re feeling adventurous, continue cruising up towards the Riviera Village. The Coffee Cartel is a personal favorite of mine and a total magnet for creative types. On the return, enjoy the best of LA’s sunsets as you head towards the vivid nightlife of downtown Hermosa Beach.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We’d first like to shoutout our parents, who continually supported us and gave us the tools to express our creativity. They gave us the freedom to pursue our passions while also instilling in us an understanding of business and the importance of self-sufficiency. With any ambitious project, a good team makes all the difference. Early in our journey, we were fortunate to be connected to Humberto Morales our third cofounder and Chief Technology Officer. As a longtime executive in tech, Humberto has the engineering connections and startup wisdom to keep us on the fast track.
