We had the good fortune of connecting with Bridget Sampson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bridget, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?

As a coaching and training business owner, retired professor, spouse and mom of two adult kids, I’m finding more balance in my life now. I took the entire morning off today to do a 3 hour hike with my husband. When I was in the thick of growing a business and raising young kids, I didn’t prioritize myself and my needs as much. I’ve also gotten a lot better at delegating, so that I can do what I most want to do with my own time. I confidently pass tasks on to my employees and to the excellent vendors we work with. I don’t have any regrets. When my kids were young, I was a super involved mom who had more flexibility than most full time employees, because I was a part time professor and had my own business. Now, I love my “me time!”

At Sampson Coaching and Consulting, we offer transformative training, coaching, and speaking services to help people become the best version of themselves. We’re experts in communication, leadership, managing change, and much more. Our clients include Google, Mattel, six California Universities, several nonprofits, and many others. We create custom, dynamic, interactive professional development programs that are unmatched by our competitors.

My spectacular Senior Consultant Todd Parker and I are Executive Coaches certified by the International Coaching Federation. I am also certified as a Life and Weight Coach with The Life Coach School. We are university faculty in the communication studies discipline and I delivered a highly regarded TEDx talk called How Public Speaking Will Change Your Life. I also published a book called Communication Secrets for Success, which has all five-star reviews on Amazon. We regularly coach clients on presentation skills, leadership, weight loss, change management and much more.

At Sampson Coaching and Consulting, we also design custom professional development programs such as Powerful Presentations, Resilience in Change, Leadership Essentials, and more. One of my favorite regular gigs is inspirational keynote speaking!

I have worked hard and smart to grow my business to the level of success that we enjoy today. I’ve hired smart, amazing consultants, partnered with brilliant executives in a variety of companies, and always worked to keep learning and growing. We read about and research all our areas of expertise voraciously and make sure all our programs are completely cutting-edge and timely.

I am also the co-founder of Transgender School, a program that my daughter Jackie and I began in 2020 to educate people about diverse transgender identities and experiences. We teach people to be LGBTQ allies and advocates. We’re very proud to have a podcast, a Medium page, courses, webinars, and a membership program on Patreon and an Ally course on Vimeo. Our loving, dedicated LGBTQ advocacy community is growing on all social media platforms where we post and engage with all people, of all identities, who want to learn and teach with us.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

I want to give a huge shoutout to one of my most impactful mentors! Kalika Yap is a serial entrepreneur, inventor, and leader in the business world. She has started many companies and all of them have been hugely successful. Kalika has taught me so much about entrepreneurship as well as mindfulness and meditation. She is so well rounded and giving that she inspires many people! Kalika’s award-winning branding company Citrus Studios is amazing and her brilliant invention, the Luxe Link, helps all of us keep our purses off the floor and safely hanging from a restaurant table. Her book, Little Brand Book, is full of inspiration about the many archetypes of successful women role models in our world! Kalika is a rock star! She’s also a major global leader in the Entrepreneurs’ Organization, having served as a President of the Los Angeles chapter in addition to many other roles within this powerful organization for highly successful business owners. Kalika also has a beautiful family – her husband Rodney and two daughters are wonderful and her daughters have their own business – Conscious Kids Cookies! Kalika’s success today was hard won, as an immigrant from the Philippines with a humble start in life, she has achieved more than most people dream of, while constantly giving back to those around her.
