We had the good fortune of connecting with Bridget Weiser and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bridget, what matters most to you?
What I value the most is consistency and discipline. My curiosity yields emotions and ideas that I have never felt before. I think it’s really important to follow a feeling. Taking the opportunity each day to create something new truly excites me. Each experience allows for something new to emerge. I don’t like painting the same way twice and instead allow myself to just show up and see what happens. I find that this builds momentum in my work.  I believe inspiration is always  inexistence you just have to tap into it. When I am relaxed and calm I am able to truly find a flow in my work. The flow state is my sweet spot of creation. I become obsessed with the process and completely lose the concept of space and time -it’s beautiful.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

My paintings unfold gradually and intuitively. Through layers of accrued oil and acrylic paints I hope to create windows, or points of departure that can lead the viewer to new, never before traveled places. The paintings are open-ended. Titles are not all defining but instead words I feel compliment the language of the paint itself. I want to allow the viewer to draw upon their own insights from the architecture of their own private imaginations.
I believe in an abundance of goodness and beauty. It is our individual responsibility to cultivate this within ourselves so that we can share it with one another. My work is about the process of nurturing something into bloom. Being a self-taught artist has given me the freedom to break all of the rules I never knew existed as well as the freedom to paint without fear. I rejoice in this freedom.
It encourages me to paint from the inside out- happy and sincere.
Music inspires every painting. It motivates every movement. I’m sensitive to color and sounds and it is within these two mediums I find the mood of my paintings. I think what sets me apart from other painters is my ability to inspire a sensory experience. My artwork has allowed me to transmute pain into beauty and I believe people can feel where the healing has taken place. Viewing my paintings with emotional vulnerability, and staring directly into them is not an easy thing to do. I am committed to creating out of my imagination and not my history. My life has given me a lot to work with. I believe an artist’s superpower is their individuality. I can be extremely insecure and question my abilities but the one thing I rely on is the love I have for what I do. Natural confidence is given to some and others have to create it.
My Mission statement:
All I want to do is make art. I want to trigger goosebumps, change minds, flip switches and make magic.
One of  the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to always trust my instincts and go with my gut. The more open you are the more available you become to what is for you. You begin to realize the difference between thinking a thought and receiving a thought. I don’t always know when it’s bullshit but I always know when it’s true. Abstract art exhibits the truths.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

I love Greystone Manor. It has the most beautiful fountains and cypress trees.
My favorite place to people watch is Erewhon grocery store. I love hiking Fryman Canyon. One of my favorite things to do is drive through Mullholland look out at the city. The lights are absolutely beautiful. I love the Psychic Eye bookshop, there you can buy crystals, books or ask for a psychic reading. I love all of that! The Crystal Shrine in Toluca Lake is also amazing. Scent Bar Hollywood Is my favorite perfume shop. Reformation’s vintage store on Melrose is one of my favorites for shopping. Malibu is my favorite beach. McCabes  guitar shop in Santa Monica is famous for having a great selection in guitars.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My friend Brit Cardarelli is an amazing illustrator, author and clothing designer. She has so much talent, you can see it in every piece she designs. She’s a very spiritual person with some of the greatest ideas. Her unique essence really comes through her pieces. She does incredible work!
