We had the good fortune of connecting with Bridgette Duran Artist and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bridgette Duran, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
For me there was really no other choice. I am creative, visually creative, and working in an environment that couldn’t support that felt suffocating. In my early twenties, working at a few financial offices I would come home from work and work for hours on crafts making clothes and furniture etc. I wasn’t supported very much in pursuit arts, I knew no one in any creative field everyone was pretty traditional in their career paths. Even the adults in my life. I realized it wasn’t for me and that I would have to find a way to use my passion, talents and smarts in a creative field.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It has not been easy, it has been a lot of work. And I’m still working. Although this year 2020 has been really more about introspection and processing than producing for me. Covid has been a challenge in some ways, my Solo show was postponed then cancelled, I had a few really big jobs fall through, everything sort of stopped. But I adapted, I think visual arts are moving in a different direction and its important to always move with life not against it. Its an exciting time because challenges can be a reset button. Its an opportunity to recalibrate and start over. I love it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would eat tacos and drink margaritas then take them to the Beverly Hills Library. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The Artists Way has been a tremendous help and great companion. Its incredibly helpful for creatives, and people who want to be more creative. Also my friends. Almost all of my friends in Los Angeles are creative, (by chance or choice ;-)). It really helped me understand how creative people live and work. I came from Orange County and I didn’t know anyone in a creative field so that was a life changer. So a HUGE thank you to all of my friends that are creative, Mirtha Michelle, Mandana Biscotti, Cate Devany, Simone Lopes, Seth Karecha, Jason Trotter, Salmon Huerta the list goes on so long. I am so grateful for people who see my talent because sometimes its hard to see yourself. Even the ones who support me from afar, you can feel who genuinely is supportive of you and it means so much.
