We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittania Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittania, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“What God has destined for you, no man can take away” This quote means to me that whatever path you take in life, everything that’s meant for you at the right time, with faith and preparation will be yours. No matter how unqualified you think you are. I live by this quote daily being in such a field I’m in. It’s very competitive and at times you may not think you are good enough hearing so many no’s at a time. Once you understand who you are and that each job will always be a perfect fit for you, you will worry less and let everything flow. Be in the present moment and appreciate all those no’s that built your character and strength for that perfect yes.
Please tell us more about your career. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way.
I’m a professional dancer and choreographer. Though there’s many dancers in LA, discipline, professionalism and getting the job done in a timely manner sets me apart. In order for me to be where I am today took a lot of sacrifice, training, free shows, praying and walking by faith. Having goals and pure intentions to attract everything that’s meant for me. This path has definitely not been easy. The industry is a very very tough place. Filled with rejection and always having to look the part for someone else. You have to know yourself and understand that all your hard work will be worth it in the long run. I’ve overcome challenges, for one, having a praying mother. I also like to journal and read self help books to allow me to elevate my mind, so I take challenges on with ease.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Usually when friends and family come visit me for the first time I take them to do all tourist things. First stop Hollywood walk of fame. Then set to Roscoes just for the experience. My ultimate favorite place is taking my family and friends to Disneyland. Back in Texas we would always see it on TV, never thinking we’d actually be able to see it in the flesh. So that for sure is my number one place to experience with everyone.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve been living in LA and pursing my dance career for now 10 going on 11 years now. Without the mentor ship from Rob Rich and The Rich Fam, I wouldn’t be the dancer I am today. My mother and little brother, living in Texas, has been my emotional, mental, and spiritual support, while being away from home for the years. They keep me level headed, while always making sure I move with pure intentions.
