We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, how does your business help the community?
Being a Social Media Manager, I help business owners create and maintain their social media marketing strategy. Social media is one of the fastest growing markets and when it is used correctly, it can lead to tremendous business growth and sales. I help businesses thrive through what I do.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started my business, Busy B Services as a virtual assistant business in 2019 shortly after I had my daughter. I had brought up the idea of owning my own business for some time, but ultimately, she gave me the motivation. I had just landed what I thought was my “dream job” a year after graduating college and found out I was pregnant at the very same time. I was afraid, but hopeful. The events that occurred were unexpected and pushed me to want to find what truly made me happy. By all means, nothing was easy. I had to learn every aspect of being a business person from the legalities, to having mindset, and finding the resources. I am still learning to this day, but I have a much better understanding of where I am, where I want to be, and most importantly, HOW to get there. Some lessons that I have taken along this journey is that consistency is key and to trust the process. I have had to make a conscious effort to be easy on myself while also working really hard to reach my goals. If anyone takes anything from my story is that motivation does not just come to you. You have to push through the days where motivation is not showing up.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting the area, we would definitely do a lot of eating and shopping. We would do brunch at the Mimosa house and Estelles Bakery. We would also take a trip to midtown to try a bunch of different places including Korean BBQ and Zocalo for Mexican food. I would like to take her to the Galleria Mall and even go on a hike or two near some waterfalls.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
