We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittney Mortl Chardon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittney, can you tell us about the Worldwide Comedy Content and is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Golden Artists Entertainment has begun a new event called The Worldwide Comedy Contest and Awards. This is our third venture into the comedy event space, the other two being The U.S. Comedy Contest and The Portland Comedy Festival, both highly successful events that will continue for years to come. But we wanted to go bigger, and employ the online show techniques we have learned from producing online shows during the pandemic. That is why we have started our search for the World’s Funniest Comedian!

The Worldwide Comedy Contest and Awards will have shows every Friday and Saturday, that utilize audience vote to determine who moves on to the finals. Every week you will see English performing comedians from all around the world, live from your living room. At the end of the festival, there will be a live, online awards show in which we honor well known, and up and coming comedians with trophies and accolades!

So what drives the success behind Golden Artists Entertainment’s comedy events?

To begin, we are headed by two world touring comedians, Dante Rusciolelli and Rebekah Kochan. Together, they have hundreds of connections in the comedy world that provide contestants with opportunities, and viewers with awe. My favorite person to see hanging around our events is Mark Brazill, the co-creator of “That 70’s Show”.

Dante and Rebekah have also participated in countless comedy events, contests, and festivals, so they also know the best way to structure an event as both performers and for audience. We always make our events as fun as possible for both the performers and the audience, since we have all experienced both sides at other events.

The most important factor behind the success of our events, however, is that we care. We care about our performers, wanting them to get the most out of our events and helping them in any way that we can with advice, opportunity or connections. We also care about our audience members, we care about their vote, their experience at our show, and we care that they are having fun. Comedy is fun, so we try to make our events as fun as possible for everyone involved.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started for Golden Artists Entertainment as a talent manager. While I loved the company, I didn’t love managing, but Dante and Rebekah saw my graphic design work as I made them flyers for their various shows. Soon, most of my duties revolved around graphics and web design. I quickly became an important partner for their comedy festivals, and have not looked back ever since. We love creating and running comedy events together. The biggest challenge is starting a new festival. It is so hard to get the word out, and create buzz for a first year festival. But after, we always get this amazing feeling because we were able to produce such an amazing event.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We used to go to Sal’s on Melrose Ave. every Monday for The Secret Comedy Club. They have great (happy hour priced) pizza too! It was such a fun show but of course Covid shut it down for a while. I hear they might reopen soon.

I would like to dedicate this post to one of our creators, Rebekah Kochan. She does so much for us, from hosting shows to looking for sponsors. We are all thinking about you and sending our best wishes for your father.
