We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittney Willis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittney, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It may seem selfish but I started my business because I wanted to be seen and I knew I was meant for something greater that would allow me to impact the collective. As a melanated woman working a regular 9-5 it was hard for me because I was rarely rewarded for the work I did or my ideas were stolen and was given credit to those that had no parts of my creative ideas. I wanted to create a space for people like me, that was being overlooked. No matter the background, race, gender, etc we all have a message that needs to be heard and creative ideas that need to be seen

What should our readers know about your business?
While I am still in the process of expanding my business and making my brand known. The process was not easy and I still face adversity to this day which only means I’m closer than I was yesterday. I had to build a closer relationship with God to overcome the challenges I faced. There were a lot of setbacks but the setbacks were minor compared to the wins I gained. There’s a song lyric by Erykah Badu that states “every blessing manifests with every lesson learned” which now I finally understand and innerstand that line. You can’t be blessed with abundance if you haven’t loss nothing in the process. The best part about my journey is how resilient I am and have been through the whole process. It’s not easy but it’s worth it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I’m being honest we would first start our morning on cloud 9 with our feet in the grass, grounding and being grateful. Next, we would hit Santa Monica Pier and go for a bike ride and/or skate down the pier. After the ride we definitely have to layout on the sand, listen to the ocean, and enjoy our snacks before brunch! For brunch I definitely recommend Court Cafe in Culver City,CA. The food is sooo amazing and the flight mimosas do me just right! Once we are full, time to walk off what we ate by going to The Grove and do some shopping!! Of course got to hit up ZARA, Nordstrom’s and Sephora. Once we walked off brunch now it’s time to go home and get ready for dinner. One of my favorite spots in LA is century city! There is a restaurant called Javier’s, omggg the best tasting food and drinks with right vibe. For the weekend we are hitting up Black on the Block and the blackflea market to socialize and network with people in the area, that’s where all the influencers and some of the celebs be at lol. Especially at everyday ppl in LA. Jhene Aiko was at the last one lol

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Source/God The Creator. Without God I wouldn’t be able to tell my story. I went through so many challenges that I questioned why me but as I grew closer to God and realized it’s all apart of the process. I found myself being grateful for the lessons and challenges that I face that got me here today. To be honest, this is only the beginning!
