We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittni Richardson -Fontleroy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittni, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned in my career as an entrepreneur; would have to be learning the ability to be kind and open to meeting new versions of myself.

As a creative who didn’t initially start my career in the beauty space, there were frequent occasions where I felt challenged and overwhelmed to release one phase and pivot to the next. In transparency the route I took to transition from a performing background vocalist to Makeup Artist /CEO of my own cosmetics line the “B.Rich Collection” wasn’t met with comfort or understanding; In fact some of the biggest challenges stemmed from supportive, well wishers who simply believed the life I was living at the time was the maximum level achievement.

I quickly learned staying true to what you believe is essential; it’s easy for what we know and who we know to present itself as a door of delay to pursue of what God has declared as our next big thing.

Before I had the opportunity to run my own business,  I was fortunate enough to learn skills behind the scenes & during live performances that prepared me for multiple business ventures. I think because I grew up hearing phrases like ” A Jack of all trades is a master of none ” I started my journey looking to find the one person I was meant to become and remain for the rest of my life; and was blessed to be introduced to gifts, thoughts and experiences I had no clue would develop and stretch me.

This is why I love platforms like Shout LA; it gives us a voice to break down careless and limiting advice; A opportunity to not only  to service in artistry & distribute cosmetics to women in the beauty industry; but also to help steer professional conversations that highlight the verbiage necessary to narrate proper focus; without limiting multi-talented visionaries! I want people to know we are always evolving and from one future multi-millionaire to another, we have to accept now that everything we do in life truly works together for the good & equips you for more now or later!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started the B,Rich Collection (A cosmetic beauty essential brand) as a Self Taught makeup Artist in the year 2016. I had spent a great deal of time building relationships and in the event of preparing for my sons birth in 2015; I decided to pivot from music into cosmetics to be more present with my son. E-Commerce wasn’t the hype nor was it common everyday talk like it is now so It was a very challenging journey. One because resources were limited or financially I couldn’t afford the investment to get the bigger access available as a start up. I had to dive into real sweat equity! Face a lot of rejection, and failed attempts, wack formulas and zero marketing to learn what I know today and I’m still learning!

It has been an emotional rollercoaster of ups and downs highs and lows but; it’s also been the most fulfilling assignment I’ve ever had. Essentially make money to be apart of amazing moments. I accompany women on some of their biggest events meetings and presentations, I’m walk women through product launch versions of branding and targeting into their final roll outs/launch dates. In short it’s incredible to do something Im truly passionate and care about.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If anyone visits me there’s a few places we absolutely must go to ensure a great time but im totally laid back and simple!

I’m from Inglewood California and that alone comes with its own requirements of food! I’d probably say the first stops would be Simply wholesome on Slauson ave or LAX Tacos! the whole menu is fire! From there shopping in downtown LA Im huge on find cute items and getting inspiration on what’s upcoming in fashion!

Me and my friends love karaoke; so we’d probably rent a private karaoke room to sing without judgement that we are true vocalist ( apparently having a real skill to sing is not real karaoke so singers rap in unfamiliar crowds to settle in lol. We’d also have to go to my favorite nail shop and get mani’s and pedi’s!

From there it’s a toss up between movies or lounging near water go for some incredible music at the GS Lounge topped with their incredible dinner. A beach experience is essential so we’d choose A few options and pack a full picnic to enjoy the day!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There’s Alot of people to name; but I believe God and my family near and far deserve the honor; it is my husband,Kevin my kids Khloe And Cameron, My grandmother Barbara, Father Barry, Mother Yvonne & Sister Brandi. A host of friends that are family that help me stay in the right spaces. they are the reason that I have remained consistent in pursuit of whatever presents itself before me. their support and love for me regardless of what happens is the refreshing I’ve needed daily!
